The Grand Palace. The Grand Palace. The Grand Palace.

One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Very spiritual around here.
We left taipei on friday and arrived in bangkok. Thailand definatly has alot less money then Taiwan and you can tell that the minute you arrive. The people are still always smiling and the experience so far here has been wonderful. When we first arrived in bangkok it was about 40 degrees. So hot!! We were looking around with our backpacks on for a hostel. There are millions of guesthouses and hostels all along the area of khao sahn road. It is backpackers central. You can get hotels for 3-4$, food for 50 cents and big beers for under 1$ it is crazy cheap a nice change from the prices in taiwan. There are also TONS of tourists here. When we were in Taiwan we only saw about 5 tourists here it is over run by tourists.

On our first day in thailand we basically hung out on Khao san road. And went for a tour of the city and to a bunch of buddah temples on a tuk-tuk (go cart like vehicle). Thailand is soo spiritual. Everywhere you go you see people bowing to the random temples and pictures of the king. The next few days in bangkok we

went to a huge chinatown in bangkok. The chinatown had the most packed alleys I have ever seen. And just when i thought they couldnt get anymore crowded motorbikes and tuk tuks started driving through. It was soo intense The smell of the gas in such a small place. The gas is leaded here also so it makes the pollution 100 times worse. By then end of the day your face has a thick coating of oil and dirt. Today we went to the craziest structure of temples. It went on for about 2 blocks of gold and gem buildings. It was sooo beautiful you cant even explain it.

Not alot else new here just exploring the city, seeing the tourist sites , and relaxing before the crazy travelling begins. Last night Dave and I went to a bar that was set up on the street for the night. we met and talked with some australians and brits that just finsihed the same trip as us so it was good to hear their stories. We also tried some larvae worms for our frist time. I was very scared but i thought i would choose to tyr them instead of

the scorpions or cockroaches. Yuck! the larvae didnt have legs and they kinda tasted like cheesies not soo bad. Well we are off to Laos tonight on a 12 hour overnight train. It will be a nice escape from the big cities. Laos is very underdeveloped and not much to do there but relax. It will be a nice change of pace. Will try and update soon with pictures. Hope everyone is doing well..miss you
