This was my second trip to the Island of Sri Lanka, in July 2006. I arrived on a Singapore Airlines flight from Singapore in the late evening. You can obtain a 30 day Visa upon arrival at the airport in Colombo. It was hot and VERY VERY humid. I took a cabbie from Colombo's Bandaranaike Int'l Airport in the North of Colombo to the suburb of Bambalapitiya near the West Coast to the Ottery Tourist Inn Hostel, taxi cost appx. us $15. I stayed for one month this past trip to Sri Lanka. The locals are reserved but nonetheless friendly. I spoke with many people about the Tsunami that struck Sri Lanka in late 2005, it is somenthing they will never forget, and I too since that was my first trip to Sri Lanka during the Tsunami disaster.
