This week my amazing hubby Matt surprised me by bringing our oldest son Dustin, his wife Melissa and our 3 gorgeous granddaughters to Seoul for my Birthday. On Sunday evening I was playing soft music and working on a Hanji Painting when low and behold 3 little girls come bouncing in to greet me. I had tears of happiness flowing down my face. This was so awesome. I will share our journey this week more in photos and videos. Cyrstal was so kind as to design a daily itenerary of activities to do during their visit. Thank you Crystal, we are so appreciative.
Mon, 03/07- We began our journey taking the subway to Youinaru Station to visit Building 63 the tallest building in Seoul. Building 63 contains aquariums filled with fish, otters, penguins, seals just to name a few of the highlights. Great place for kids. We walked many miles today. Impressed with the girls, their stamina is amazing.
Tues, 03/08- Today Matt was able to join us in our adventures. Our day began at 10:30 am and ended at 9 pm. We began by touring the Kyungbok Palace, then off to Insadong and then to a performance at
the Nanta Theater. We were not able to take photos at Nanta. This performance included 5 actors who played the roles of chefs. They were amazing at dancing, singing, slicing and dicing. I highly recommend seeing this one. Very entertaining.
Wed. 03/09- On my special day, we all traveled to the Noryangin Fish Market, this girls were not to impressed by seeing all of the strange looking fish. Tip, be sure to wear waterproof shoes here. We then attended another evening performance at the Sheraton Walkerhill "Legend of the Flower". Here you are not able to take photos. We were provided dinner and a beautiful show of Korean dancers, drummers, clowns and a tightrope performance. The costumes were beautiful. The family really like this one.
Thurs. 03/10- We traveled by subway to Mok-Dong station where we were greeted by Ryan from the Taekwondo Training facility. Ryan transported us to the facility where Dustin, Meliisa the girls and I had the pleasure of a 3-hour session for learning some basic Taekwondo. I must admit the girls, Dustin and Meilssa did amazingly well. Our youngest granddaugter who is 2 found it much more interesting to run and play with the
soccer ball, which worked out well. We had alot of fun here.
Fri- 03/11- Matt drove us to the Korea Folk Life Village. It takes close to an hour to get there. One of our sweet grandkids becomes car sick so this became a long ride for her. She was such a trooper and did not allow being sick impact her day of exploration and fun. All the girls had a great time. We got home close to 8 pm.
Sat. 03/12- Matt drove us to the huge theme park called, Everland. It is like Disney with a Zoo included. You could spend 2 full days here. The park was extremely busy. Today was warmer so we could take off our jackets. The rides were endless. Some of the lines were to. Here is the home of worlds longest and steepest wooden roller coaster. The wait time was over 70 minutes so the guys elected not to wait for this one. The day was so amazing. We ended up arriving home close to 9:30 pm. This park closed at 8 pm.
Sun, 03/13- We traveled in a taxi van with the family to Incheon Airport. Our adventure
ended way to soon. Oh my they had to get on that plane. I am so very blessed to have had the opportunity of a surprise visit. I will not forget this one. I am thinking neither will Dustin, Melissa nor the girls.

this was the best!
Loved your summary of the trip! WOW!!! We did so much and could have kept going right?! :) Hannah was sad on plane...already missing you! Luckily Hannah and Jada slept most of the first flight....of course Madi was trying to be an adult so she stayed awake as long as she could! :) Poor Jada got sick when we were landing. I think the yogurt they gave us with our last meal upset her tummy but it was a rocky landing too. Good thing we had to recheck in our luggage so we could both get clean clothes! Can't wait to see you this July! Love and miss you tons!!!
