This was my time to get caught up on evaluating the homework for my great students, preparing for this weeks class sessions and enjoying my new found past time of Hanji Painting. I will begin this week on Tuesday as I had ended my last blog with my return from Thailand journey notes ending on Monday. Our lovely Korean roomate took great care of Matt while I was away. I think he may be getting a bit spoiled with all of the attention. The Koreans just love to serve whenever they feel needed. This is one of the awesome things I admire about their upbringing.
Tues. 03/01- Spring is just around the corner I am told. Today the brisk bitter wind from the North reminded me of just how cold I felt upon my arrival back in December. Spent the day also catching up on laundry etc.. As I was waiting at the base for someone to meet me, a beautiful lady named Gina approached me. Low and behold she is the President/CEO of a Korean Interational Modeling company. She asked me to consider modeling for them. She commented that she was seeking someone just like me. Who knows where
this one will go. To me all of these so unexpected opportunities are all God moments as I call them. Unique doors open when you least expect it.
Wed. 03/02- My group at Shinhan rescheduled our morning class time to Friday. I enjoyed getting up a little later this morning. Off to my Hanji painting class for more lessons. I so love this experience. My Hanji instructor is convinced I would be a great teacher in the states for this type of art. I am going to learn all I can from her and with her support I am planning to bring home this talent to share with others. Who knows maybe one day I can have my things in an Art Expo.
Thurs. 03/03- Enroute to my Korean class I once again became lost in the ever confusing underground subway tunnels when changing to Line One. Today I choose to not be late and took a break from stressing out in getting there. It actually felt good as I made this decision and felt no guilt about it. I came home and worked on my Korean Language utilizing my self study manuals and CD's.
Fri. 03/04-
Up early this morning journeying to Yeouido for my ESL class at Shinhan. We had a wonderful class. It is alot of fun helping their team learn English. They are so very passionate about learning. Oh my goodness this week has been cold. I am assured by Crystal that this weekend will be warmer. Thailand was very warm and it was so great to be wearing capris and shorts.
Sat. 03/05- Matt & I attended our first Korean wedding. Ms. Kim works on Matt's team. She was a very beautiful bride. I so loved her wedding dress and vail (bling...bling). Even her lips sparkled. The Korean men regard a wedding as a time for socializing. They were standing in large groups and talking throughout the ceremony. This is very different from American weddings. It was very hard to hear the priest/pastor marrying them. Once the wedding was over we all went to banquet halls and partook in a huge buffet. So many varieties of Korean foods to choose from. The tradition is to give the couple money in odd numbers, 5,7 or 9 as opposed to gifts. That evening Matt and I watched the movie 'Transformers'. It really was
quite good.
Sun. 03/06- This morning I went down and worked out while the laundry was washing. Now my knee is cringing again (darn it). Matt & I had lunch at a wonderful Fish and Chips place in Itaewon. It was so good (reminded me of home), french fries and a fish taco, yummy! Matt had to work this afternoon so I am flying solo.
Best wishes, hugs and warm blessings from Seoul
