go biddie go!
That ajumma in the purple rocks... So not last Saturday but the Saturday beforeI went to the above named parade (I ain't spelling that again!) with two on my students- Jini and Sunny.
It was at Yongdoosan park which is really close to ESS, my school. I was as hungover as hell (must stop drinking soju) and the prospect of a parade of people banging drums didn't exactly thrill but when I got there it as loads of fun!
Jo-seon-tong-shin-sa was a Korean cultural delegation a long long time ago, when Japan really wanted Korea to deliver some cultural things and technics to Japan. (In the days when Korea was more hi-tec than Japan- honestly, it's difficulat to believe!)
Jo-seon-tong-shin-sa went to Japan and was treated very very very well by Japanese, and there was a very great parade for Korean delegation, Jo-seon-tong-shin-sa.
The parade was re-enacted by seemingly every middle aged woman in Busan. Honestlky the biddies were out in force- I loved it!
Over here once a woman gets married and reached a certain age (lets say the 'autumn of her life if we're being polite) she gets called an ajumma. Blokes are always called ajosshi no matter whether they are
fishermen...
High school kids making like fishermen.. married or not but us old ladies get our own name. As soon as you reach ajumma status it appears you have carte blanche to generally be rude and miserable and push people out of the way. I can't wait!
Check out ze pics!
