We flew from Perth to Singapore. Originally this was just to change planes on-route to Thailand, but we decided to stay for a few days. Singapore is a very busy place, lot of people everywhere. But it is very well organized and also very clean. It was very easy to get around on public transport. The MRT (subway) was very good. We spent one day walking around, we walked down to the river and looked around some shopping areas - Singapore has lots of huge, modern shopping centers. We also went to China town and looked around a market area and walked down to the river. Another day we went to the 'Night Safari'. This is like a zoo, but it is only open at night. You ride around in a tram and there are also trails to walk on. It is very good because many animals are only active at night, so you see much more than in a normal zoo. Another day we went to Sentosa Island. We went over in a cable-car over the river with excellent views. Sentosa Island is really a tourist/holiday place. It has a beach and LOTS of tourist things like an aquarium, butterfly

park etc. A lot of the things might have been interesting but were things that you could see somewhere else also. We went to a fort on the island that had been made into a museum. This was pretty quiet with only a few other people there (unlike the rest of the island), it also had great views of the harbour (that's why the fort was built there) - there were a LOT of ships, the port is very busy. In the evening there was a show (free). It was based on fountains but with lights and lasers shining on them - it was quite good but also wierd. The last day in Singapore we mostly rested. Singapore has a lot of different types of food (Singaporean, Malaysian, Chinese, Indian), we ate a lot of different things.
