From Sentosa island.
After the excitement of the zoo, we decided to spend a bit of time (the 2 days we had left here) exploring the city itself.

After leaving the hostel and having breakfast, we headed to the conveniently located MRT station across the road from our hostel and headed to the Harbour Front, not too sure of what we were going to do but we'd read about a lot of different things. Getting off here, we noticed the cable cars heading from a nearby island (Sentosa Island) across the water and up a nearby hill. This looked like a bit of fun, but because it was a hot day, we decided to climb the hill manually, which turned out to be Mt Faber.

We spent a while looking for the path up, with help from some garbled directions from a local. We soon found ourselves on a winding road going up in the heat and in a ridiculous planning failure, without any water. After some time climbing, we eventually reached the summit and got some great views over the city from the viewing point. A short while later and we were at the cable car station and got a ticket

back down as the road up went just a wee bit out of the way.

The views from the cable car again were nice and when we reached Harbour Front (back to where we started) we decided to jump out and get some tucker (in Aussie mode as writing this from there). Afterwards, we headed back on the cable car and were now in the tourist magnet of Sentosa Island.

It was all a bit fake and overpriced here, but we had mainly only come over to get up the Carlsberg Tower, which gave panoramic views over the city. We thought it would look better in the dark, so because it was still bright, we explored the area careful not to spend the exhorbitant prices on some of the activities there. We ended up doing a forest trail, which was quite fun but ended up being a mosquito fest and we emerged with many bites. The Carlsberg tower was worth the wait though as it gave views not just over the city but to Indonesia and Malaysia. We headed back and enjoyed a Cornetto in the cable car back (technically a crime in Singapore) and went to the MRT and back to our hostel.

We headed out the next day down Bencoolen Street to the bottom where Orchard Road began, the legendary shopping street of Singapore. The shopping malls down here were plentiful and after heading into one, we came out to find ourselves in the middle of a thunderstorm. Hoping it would stop soon, we headed to a coffee shop and chilled out waiting for it stop. Which it didn't.

Eventually having to ride it out, we headed out later than we had intended and had a quick look around a few other places before heading to the colonial district of the town via MRT. It dropped us off just outside the Asian Civilisation Museum which we got to an hour before closing time. Turns out this hour wasn't enough as it was a lot bigger than we thought and we ended up only getting through 3 of the 10 galleries by closing. A bit disappointed we headed out for dinnner and decided to make the ten minute walk to Chinatown to have something. We found a specific food street which had a lot of authentic Chinese food on offer and opted for one and

had a great meal.

It was fairly late that we left Chinatown and knowing that we had an extremely early start the next morning for the plane, we jumped on the MRT to our hostel where a nice, warm bed awaited...
