I just had to...
From Shell: I think we were both sad to leave Africa but also wondering about a stop over in Singapore, when we were so close to home (relatively). However, when it ended up taking us 20 hours to get from Nairobi to our hotel in Singapore due to delays in Johannesburg, we were more than ready to soak up shower time, bed time and pool side bar time.

Fortunately, our hotel in Singapore turned out to be adequately posh and relaxing for our planned R&R. We didn't do alot - particularly when outside was like a sauna and inside was like a freezer.

We did make several quests to find non-food shopping markets, finally suceeding in a muslim district and buying some nice summer tops and trinkets. We also walked on the beach (as they were building it!) and wandered around downtown and near Clarke Quay. But mostly, we slept, watched some TV (there's a channel there that just plays Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth over and over - 24 hours a day!), had numerous warm showers and ate well.

We both reflected that it really had been a once in a lifetime holiday and that we had managed very well to both have a great time and still be talking to each other.

We landed in Melbourne on time - my friend Shane whisked me home and Marja can tell you what she got up to!
