20140823-Leaving Dumaguete-3
Waiting for Ivy to get a trike...these baby goats were running free....happy eating weeds I had a long journey leaving Dumaguete in the Philippines and a very sentimental one. I was sad to leave my friends. Bill and Ivy had taken me into their home like a sister and we made a really strong bond. I certainly will have them in a very special place in my heart if I don’t get to come back but I know that I will soon.
Bill’s car finally took the shit and the transmission sounded like it cracked when they were going to take me to the bus station. The situation sucked but we had a mission, I had to cross the water into the next island to catch a 5hr bus to get to the airport. Ivy went in her motorbike to fish a trike for P30 to take me and my luggage to the bus station but when we got there we learnt that there was only one bus at 10pm which was too late for me. That was the bus that goes on the ferry. Now I had to go to another ferry (Sibulan-lilolan)…we took another trike for P150 to take us to Sibulan. Ivy came on the trike with me and Bill followed

Ivy got us a trike!! it is basically a motorcycle with a passenger seat....common transport all over Philippines us on the big bike to be able to go back with Ivy. At the ferry station we had 2 options: pump boat and fast boat, the later will give me a seat number on the bus to go to Cebu. Boats go every half hour and since it was only 4pm and I had 8 hrs to get to the airport we decided to send me on the 5pm ferry and have the last beer together. We didn’t talk about leaving but I was about to cry. I didn’t want to leave yet. But I had to move on. When the time came we gave each other quick hugs and I got on the ferry. I didn’t want to look back I didn’t want to cry. I had to look forward to the rest of my trip.
The black clouds on top of us let the rain go and I certainly didn’t want to get my camera gear wet. Trying to move out of the way I dropped my computer on the floor and it sounded pretty bad. Now I know that the anti-shock gel case saved it because I am typing on it and its running just

Ferry ride....It was pouring rain when we arrived to Cebu....Filipinos rush out of the transports like cows...like if the bus is going to leave them...I dropped my computer on the floor trying to get out of their way.... fine.
My plane didn’t leave until 3am and then I had a little layover in Manila so I got a sim card with load for my phone to be able to book a hotel for the night and check out my messages.
After the 35min ferry ride from Dumaguette to the south of Cebu. The P75 bus took about 5-6 hrs to get to Cebu city and then the taxi P200 about 30 minutes to get to the airport. I arrived at the airport of Cebu about 11pm but they didn’t let me check in until 1:30am.
I flew from Cebu to Manila from Manila to Bangkok and then changed airports on a free shuttle and from the smaller airport I flew straight into Chiang Rai to do the last leg of my trip.
In Cebu they weighted me with my carry on. They actually made me step on the scale because the plane was very small and weight sensitive….wow there is always a first time.
