we were in san fernando city, la union for a business matter. to have some break, we decided to have a road trip to bangued, abra. a former officemate is from la paz, abra. she invited us to visit her place. when we reached bangued at noontime, we looked for a restaurant or a fast food but there was none. we ended up having our lunch in a small eatery at the back of the provincial capitol. i had never really expected bangued to be so behind in terms of development.

we went around the town then we proceeded to la paz town. we crossed a river going to lapaz. as expected, there was no bridge. we crossed thru a makeshift banca. we spent the night in lapaz. the next day, we dropped by at the mango plantation of our friend and we had some mango feast. it was exciting as we had to cross a river (again) using the coconut tree as a bridge. we really had some fun.

after that, since we still had enough time, we decided to go directly to vigan which is an hour drive from bangued.

once in a while, it is great to unwind and travel without thinking of all the hustles and bustles of a busy life. I know that there is a fascinating world waiting to be explored whether here in the Philippines or in distant lands. i would love to travel and explore the world someday, if not sooner. Abra
you went to the wrong town, u should have gone to Tayum next to Bangued for their old Spanish church or to Bucay or Manabo-towns that are a lot more scenic and interesting to see than ordinary La Paz.

ilocos region?
abra is a province in CAR. not ilocos region. anyway, having golden arches or jollibee here in bangued is not impossible. we could have done that sooner than you think. however, one should know the perils of having a fastfood giant in a land-locked province such as abra. afterall, we don't travel to china to eat at mcdonald's shanghai branch nor do we take a trip to italy to have a taste of pizza hut. much love!
