Gorgeous sand.
Boracay is a small island with one of the prettiest beaches in the world, White Beach. You can spend at least a couple of hours walking this lengthy beach of tawny white sand with smooth white coral pebbles sprinkled at the lapping water's edge. On one end of the beach is a narrow concrete walk around a volcanic peninsula which leads to an emerald green bay. It would have been the perfect place to find a wooden Spanish galleon anchored with bearded men on deck wearing gold earrings and brightly colored scarves tied over their heads.

Tucked behind a fringe of coconut palms is a strip of restaurants and shops where you can eat just about any kind of food and drink to your heart's content. We spent four days sampling the different restaurants. Sunset is a great time to find your favorite bar and savor the sky changing from yellow to orange, pink, and purple. The sun drops into the sea in the blink of an eye but the colors are fantastic.

And there's great people watching, eclectic folks everywhere. There's a bar called the Hobbit House where all the waiters are midgets. As Toby says, "midgets are

always good for a laugh." How un-PC!

One morning we woke up at about 5 am to the sound of throbbing club music. I thought I could ignore it but decided it was way to loud to ignore. We shared a wall of our thatched cottage with an Englishman so I threw on a towel, marched next door and knocked on the door. He said, "Oh is it too loud?" which was a crazy question as the dead were rising from their graves to get a groove on. He turned it down to a dull roar and later that day apologized again.

He told us that the woman in the cottage next to us was a friend but really a pain in the ass. She followed him here but then he admitted that he kind of invited her. He said that she threw a can of beer at him "for absolutely no reason" when they were in Thailand. It bashed him in the forehead. I wondered if maybe he had been playing club music at volume 10 in the room next door to her in the wee hours of the morning "for absolutely no reason."

It's so

Turquoise water. But, and this is a big but, the water was actually a bit chilly in what they call "winter" here.
fun to meet your fellow travelers, even if they can be a PITA at times.

Unfortunately, we were the sole people walking on this beach except for a naked guy. Why is it that the people who like to take their clothes off in public are the last people that you'd ever want to see naked? It's never someone who looks like Brad Pitt or Claudia Schiffer but more like Danny DeVito and Rosanne Bar. :(

This photo reminds me of how late I am in getting this blog posted. We were busy man. :)

This was the emerald green bay I talked about. The houses/resorts built up the hillside reminded me of Sausalito which is on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
