between 8 and 9 thousand feet was a large stretch of old growth forest with some truly massive trees.

I spent an extra day in Chame for two reasons - it was at 9000 feet so it was high enough to begin the acclimatization process and I wanted to spend a 2nd day in the pine forest. This is where I stayed on the 3rd and 4th nights of the trek.

As I hiked from Chame to Pisang the Annapurna ridge line slowly came into clear view.

Though most of Nepal is Hindu, Tibetan Buddhism is the main religion of the high altitude regions. The people here are very closely tied to TIbetan culture, while lowland Nepali share more in common with India.

leaving Upper Pisang. The trees up here above 10,000 feet were smaller and further apart than back down in Chame.
