Petronas
Scott and the twins Well we finally finished up at work, cleaned the house and got ourselves to the airport. I've (Scott) fully recovered from my week and a half of the flu but unfortunately over the last few days Joy has not been feeling real good. Dosed up on drugs (thanks MK!) she got on the flight but it was not a very enjoyable experience for Joy as the climb and descent gave her a terrible sinus headache and did very weird things to her hearing, but we did manage to get a few hours sleep in between and arrived in KL at 5:30am. First impressions of KL are of an extremely modern city but it's still very much an asian city at the same time.
Yesterday we went to the Petronas towers which are the 2nd and 3rd tallest buildings in the world and took the compulsary tourist photos of ourselves standing in front of them. You can go up to the skybrige that connects the two towers for free. The skybridge is 170m high (nearly as high as Brissy's tallest) and is not even half way up the buildings.
Today we went to Sunway Lagoon which is a theme park

Joy on the skybridge about an hour out of KL, to get there required a walk, Monorail, walk, Train and then a bus. It only cost $15 to get in which we thought was a bargain till we got stuck half way up one of the first rides we went on. It was a flume ride similar to those at Dreamworld and the Wild Wild West ride at Movieworld. I think we were the first people to go on the ride for the day, and as we nearly got to the top of the ride our carriage got jammed and would not budge. We sat there for about 10-15 minutes and I was just about to contemplate trying to jump out of the carriage and climb down some stairs to raise the alarm before the attendant obviously realised that we were taking a while to return...I think he was busy talking on his mobile phone!!! 3 maintainance men came and rescued us and we completed our ride. By this stage a large group of very excited muslim females had gathered at the end of the ride and were very excited to hear all about our ordeal. Every time we crossed paths with them for
Sunway
Sunway Lagoon the rest of the day they were asking us if we were ok etc.. We found it quite amusing watching all of the muslim women at a theme park going on all the rides fully covered in black (with only eyes showing) and getting soaking wet!!
We've found the Malaysian people to be very friendly. From our past experiences in Asia most of the time when people approach you they will try to scam you in some way but here we have had several people just wanting to help us with directions or give help in some other way.
The food here is fantastic and our hotel is just around the corner from an entire street full of streetside hawker restaurants and we've be eating very well and very cheaply.
Tomorrow we check out of our hotel but don't fly out till after midnight so we'll leave our packs and explore a bit more of KL before heading to Dubai!!
Hope everything is going well in Oz!!
