WEll, 24 hours travelling from Koh Tao made me even more adverse to public transport than usual, even though it wasnt actually that bad. It just got boring when it got dark. Transporting from Thailand to Malaysia was very straightforward though. i even had half an ac bus to myself from Hat Yai to KL.

I stayed in the ORiginal Backpackers Inn, which I paid tuppence for, so I got tuppence- i stayedf in a tiny 8 bed dorm with bunk beds, but tbh i did nothing else other than sleep there, despicte being tired and really needing to doa wash. The plus side to the hostel was that it is right in the centre of Chinatown. So entering in to KL in the evening was one of those moments when you get an exciting buzz for enterring into a new city. There were lights, skyscraopers, tvs- the whole place was bustling. After walking to the hostel i went and ahad a little wonder round but then went to bed.

i decided to get up early the next morning to get a ticket to the skybride on the Petronas Towers (note for future- skybridge is not open friday to monday) so I didnt get up there but I had a good wonder round the KLCC area. these skyscrapers are.so.big! From there I wondered down to the MEnara teletower- which I paid to go up- I was going to see a good view of KL. The Menara tower ended up being quite a tourist trap really. I mean it was good and I am glad I went up, spectacular views blah blah blah. but by the end of the day i realise that KL has so much more to offer.

I walked back towards Chinatown and sat down to have a drink and make a bit of a plan to see as much of KL as I could during the day. I then went through the outskirts of China town into the Central Market and rthen Merdka Square- I thoughtthese areas were great and completely free. The gallery had a mini KL which was quite cool and the square was quite interesting and had quite a history. I then walked to the National MOnument and then down into the Botanical gardens. The gardens were absoultely marvewllous. it was a real pleasure to wonder round for a few hours. i alos wemt and sat down at the alke for while and i was just wondering along when a snake crawled infront of me and then i looked acorss and there was a lizard. I could have quite happily wondered round there all day. However, it then started raining- typical rainy season, So i went and had a little break back at the hostel. After the rain I ventured out for dinner and went up to the Bintang area. There was food everywhere... so manuy different types and contrasts of flavour- unusual things such as sharks fin soup, a million types of porridge, fish head soup, dumplings, dim sum mmm i wish i had time to try it all. I also tried a peanut pancake and this thing called Chleng ( i think thats how you spell it) which is coconut milk, palm suagr, sweet corn, duran jelly and some green bean things (Heston eat your heart out)

To summarise KL in a day. I walked all day and only just touched the surface... i even woke up the next morning beofre the bus to try and see a little more. It is such a beautiful, diverse city with a mix of different culrures and activities and it has so much to do and see. The history of the city has made it an upcoming place with that glorious city buzz. One thing i definitely have learnt is that you can never get lost in a city that you dont know. never.
