Firstly, I would like to thanks Kein for giving us a free voucher staying in Legend. But your delayed in taking us had disrupted our plan, how are you going to compensate our losses? Hahaha..we have yet to claim from you….hehehe =)
Day 1: KL - Terengganu - Cherating
I think it has been 10 years I have never been to east coast. According to some magazines, the east coast is claimed as the most beautiful coastline in Malaysia. My expectation was high before departure.
Due to Kein’s unpunctual, we arrived late in Cherating. But along the way, we stopped over at Karak, a tiny town in Pahang state to take our brunch, a bad chicken rice at a Chinese kopitiam. Josh’s durian addict was suddenly erupted, due to that we stopped again to buy a durian and ate on the spot. The content and taste just so so but it cost RM5/kg and the durian is 2kg.
We reached Cherating at around 3pm, but we straight up to the north heading to the Kuala Terengganu. A long the way, we stopped at road side stall to buy a fresh lekor. The lekor in east
coast is very much different from KL. It is dense but soft, and it is fresh which made on the spot when order. Other than lekor, we ordered ABC as the day was very hot.
After that, we headed to the north. After passing the border of Pahang, we entered into Terengganu state. The road condition in Terengganu is pretty good compare with other states. Terengganu is considered a rich state in Malaysia due to its oil and gas production. We stopped over at Kemaman to look for a famous Hai Ping kopitiam. The Hai Ping is an old Chinese coffee shop and it is famous for its kopi and bread which also recommended by astro’s ah1 xian2 ren2 qing2 wei4.
I was surprised that there were many Malays and Indians were enjoying their coffee and bread in this old Chinese coffee shop. I think this is a real Malaysia where the food is not a barrier to mix the different races, of course as long as it is halal for muslim.
After a good coffee, we again headed to north. Along the way, there are many oil and gas refineries which owned by Petronas. At the
same time we were also looking for accommodation as the sky was started becoming dark. We did find an apartment, but due to bad location, we decided to find at other place.
We headed to south and said good bye to Terengganu. After a few efforts, we finally get a room at Cherating bay resort. It was a disappointed day as we have missed the opportunity jumping into the South China Sea in Terengganu. May be will try it in other day.
After a Malay sea food dinner, we went back to hostel to chor dai di. I think it was an unforgettable night for Derrick. Please forgive Josh’s cruelty in mixing so much whisky…haha
Day 2: Cherating
We had our breakfast at a Malay road side restaurant which I took a very good nasi dagang. This is the best nasi dagang that I have ever eaten.
Then we strolling at the cherating beach, suddenly a scary storm was approaching the beach. We went back to hostel and only went to checked in at Legend resort at 1pm.
Since from the morning, the Sun is keep on calling Josh to the sea (as what
he said), so finally we went to the beach at around 4pm. The water is clean compare with PD or Penang beach. It was the most relaxing time for me. But the storm approaching the beach again in the evening, luckily we managed to avoid it. It was an heavy downpour after that.
Though rain, but we still out for dinner. It was a sea food dinner again..wow…very high cholesterol…haha
The game was continued from last night, this time Kein was the victim. Oh..he was not a victim, I think it was a punishment for his late yesterday….haha
Day 3: Cherating - KL
Though was late slept last night, but we woke up at 5:30am, just to catch the sun rise.
After an hour bathed in the sea, we went back and checked out at 12pm.
We stopped at Kuantan to take our lunch and also ended our journey.
