Melaka Make-Over

We have just mished on our second day in Melaka, walking around for a good 3 hours trying to find anything...well eh....exciting..!!..Mission failed though as all we saw were run down shops and buildings - Melaka is described as a triving Malaysian city, but this must be past glory as we saw nothing of the kind. Yes, Melaka is definately in need of a make-over!!! Where is are the queer guys when you need them??

The area where we are staying (China Town) is probably the nicest area with cute little shops and bars - quite a relief to have picked something decent after our "Little India" experience in Singapore.

The thing that is really weird thing here is that everybody stares at us - as if they have never seen two gooooorgeous Western woman before in their life!! Quite bizarre really and we have to decline at least a couple of marriage per hour (well, that's what we think they are saying anyway). You become very good at saying 'NO!!!' and we are learning not too get too annoyed and bothered with it, which is quite a challenge after walking around in the heat for 3 hours...alas, you get the picture...

We are enjoying all of the strangeness though and apart from the guys who hassle us every now and then everybody is really friendly - particulary the older people stop right in their tracks to say 'hello' and give you a (sometimes) toothless smile.

Off for a cold beer now...ahhhhhhh.

Puffy Bread?
Look more like a giant clam to me! It would be perfect to stuff it with salami, lettuce, capsicum, cheese and sundried tomato! Where is Melaka by the way? I fly to KL on Boxing Day for 2 days and then Sabah for 6 days..be there for new years eve. Will be anywhere near?
