Langkawi Ferry
So this is what it's like to be a movie star.
All the girls wanted their photo with me!! Hi Guys,
Langkawi,
A lovely small island on the west coast of Malaysia.
Beautiful white sandy beaches, we spent 5 nights here praying that the rain would stop long enough for us to enjoy the place!
Unfortunately it did not. The one truly amazing evening we had was spent a Debbie's Irish bar watching The Toon hammer Sunderland in a
5-1 VICTORY HAHA
The Under Water World was a really good afternoon out and escapism from the rain. It is the largest underwater world in S.E.A.
Langkawi is a duty free island, wines and spirits are so cheap. A litre bottle of our favourite Southern Comfort for £9, bargain. We treated ourselves to a nice new underwater camera, as I had a clumsy moment with my 12 week old camera! Trying to get it fixed, no hope! Oops Sorry Paddy ( It was my birthday present before we came away but I guess we're even now. Last year the video camera I got for Paddy, ended up coming unstuck from his motorbike and bounced down the road at a 100mph )

Penang
A 3 hour
smooth ferry crossing from Langkawi. The Islands are worlds apart. Georgetown, back to city life with skyscraper hotels on the beach and lots of traffic. We stayied at Batu Ferringhi it has a nice strip of cafe bars, a great food court with a choice from all over the world and the prices there are really cheap. Penang is renowned for the serving best food in the world!
In comparison with Langkawi the beers in Penang are totally extortionate. The beaches in Penang are not as tropical as we were hoping for as it's still low season. The water looks like dirty dish water as the waves churn up the sand. The beach front reminds me of Blackpool, instead of donkey rides there is a couple of horses doing a walk up and down the beach with tourists straddled on their back. Para-sailing is another popular activity, it makes us laugh as after the person has been up para-sailing they get dumped on the beach at great speed, with no care of poor sunbathing victims. ( health n safety, ) It's such a laugh!!
The upside to Penang our digs. We are staying at Annie's Guest
House, which is 10 mins walk from the beach in the middle of a lovely housing estate. The house is 5 bedrooms and the first 2 nights we had the whole house to ourselves. Luxury! The following night we shared the house with a Chinese family of 10 who were clearly not used to Westeners. After we introduced ourselves they scampered off to bed quick as a flash, How rude, haha! The following evening we spent our time with E and Rebecca a lovely young African couple, they assisted in cheering on Newcastle against Arsenal. What a brilliant night. Apologies for welching on the bet of skinny dipping if The Toon were to win! We are looking forward to a night out with the guys in KL.
The owners, Annie and Raj are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. They have spoilt us with a visit to their home, a swim in their amazing pool, football channel sorted for The Toon V The Gunners, chicken run ( although it did come with feet and head still attached, not like asda haha, not complaining as it was Paddy who did the dismembering ), a great night out
Langkawi
Lovely beach, shame about the rain. with them in The Sunset bar, a lift to the main street because it was raining and much more.
We leave Annie's guest house after 6 days, thankful to Annie and Raj for everything they have done for us and sad to be leaving them though happy to have made two true friends. Hopefully our paths may cross with Annie ( Hot and Spicy ) in Australia!
