Hello all has been a busy week once again for me & Dan, since we left Luang Prabang have now arrived into the capital of Laos Vientiane.
So I left off with we had just arrived in Luang Prabang with the amazing food stalls and also the more strange delicacies available, like Cobra wine, cooked chicken heads and feet and not forgetting pig face. Still the food does taste amazing.
Had a chilled day just walking around the city had an amazing sunset over the Mekong river, with a couple of beers and the next day we turned fitness freaks and did a 36km cycle to the waterfalls, was pretty hard going as there wer sum big hills but the down hill parts were amazing zipping through a valley, with rice fields and so much amazing landscapes, was well worth the pain. Took us about 2.5/3hrs to get there and we decided not to then cycle back. A very good choice. Got into the national park and they also had an Asiactic bear ( moon bear) sanctuary which was cool, was speaking to the dude there and he has gave me his contact details so that i may oneday go back
and volunteer either here or at the other place in Cambodia. As it is such a great cause. So we carried on to the water falls, the first was not that impressive as it was just a swimming area so after a while continued to the next waterfall which was great it had a rope swing which you fell about 15ft into the water and you could also jump from the 20ft high water fall which was great fun as i did a jump with my little camera, so chilled out here for a while then continued on our walk through the park to the next set of falls which were multi tiered and were beautiful, like lilly pads cascading into each other.
Then we went to the final falls, which were huge 3 levels of tiered falls all falling into each other, prob at least 50m high altogether maybe bigger, so we then climbed up to the top of the falls which gave an incredible view of the mountains, and then i attempted to climb down the falls, did about 20ms and that was it but great fun.
So after Luang Prabang we headed down to Vang Vieng
by public bus cost 100000kip (10quid) and some amazing scenery along the way. Stayed at a place called Vang Vieng villas was a good room and only 40000kip between us, with a fan rite in town aswell. Had a very mellowed nite the first nite, sitting in a restaurant watching family guy for a few hours. Classic.
Up the next day and Dan was pretty ill so i went off tubing on my own it cost 120000kip for a tube but you get 60000 back if its back before 6pm or 40000 if back after i fink i got my money back but cant be sure. Got down to the river and met a few guys we had been chatting to along the way since the slow boat down the Mekong and also a couple of Dutch guys who i was drinkin with most of the day, cant remember much of this day as the have Whiskey buckets of cocktail and free shots of whiskey are given out in everybar, but heard a few stories from sum guys. Was good fun but I did destroy my little camera and lost my sun glasses bad times. The river is a cool
place to drift down on the rubber ring but you dont actually need to hire one out. Its just as easy to swim Which me and Dan did the second 2days. Got totally smashed on about 10quid each day bargain.
So the second day Dan feeling better and off we went again, had a go on the first rope swing which was great fun but if you plan the landing wrong you would probably die, as sum1 did only a few weeks ago on the slide now known as the death slide. Hard core. So once again had too much to drink and have more stories which cannot be disclosed of on here, but great fun once again. As ended up back with a group of girls & guys in a room listening to tunes and chilling out good times.
Then i did a third and final day tubing, same format again saw a few people i met on the first day and me and Dan did sum drinking games with a few girls whose bday it was, went and had a boogie at one of the bars met another group of girls did sum more boogieing, and then had
to swim back across the river in darkness and headed home, ended up goin out to the bucket bar which was a cool place, as you could just chill in the hammocks and ended up getting in at 4am. Hardcore.
The day after we ended up watchin sum simpsons and then i treated myself to a t-shirt met a girl in the shop who started chatting to me like we were good friends, I dun actually remember her god bless alcoholic conversations ha. Then we headed off by bus down to Vientiane, pretty cool bus had 2 seats each, and basically died from a hangover all of yesterday, but a well deserved hang over now staying at the Mixoc guesthouse (i fink the places name with a big internet cafe built on the side) the room itself a bit of a dive, but for 2pound each wat you expect, although didn expect bedbugs which decided to give me a few bites last nite, and those fings are pretty big aswell. Went out for food along the Mekong river, Dans yellow curry not very yellow and had noodles in and my grilled chicken was deepfried. But this could be the most
chilled out capital city i have ever been to. After a walk around today tryin to sort out the Cambodian visas.
So that brings me up to now we have to spend another day here, tomorrow as waiting on the visa so will do some of the sights and then off we head south. So looking forward to that.
So hope every1 is well and that the family enjoyed Summers 1st bday shame i couldn't be there but im sure i will be at atleast 1 bday oneday. Just prob not for a while, maybe her 18th. Haha
Hope every1 is well at home. Ive decided to go for breakfast/lunch as Dan is still in bed.
