Took a tuk-tuk to the border today - very slowly - due to the ridiculous amount of rucksacks we have between us, thought the engine may well just cut out. People walking could have overtaken us. Got passport photos taken for less than £1for our visas and crossed the thai border. We then got on a minibus as the only tourists not really knowing what we were doing or where exactly we were however enjoying stunning views over the river. Reached the Laos border and managed the paperwork. Here, if you don't understand a question on the immigration form, you can just leave it and they don't even notice. Glad I brought the dollars, so much easier for borders. Once we were in Laos we got taxi which looked distinctly stolen with no rear view mirror etc 😊 The driving here is pretty horrific but it's as you would expect and you almost don't notice. Booked our bus to Vang Vieng and had lunch with local beer. As someone who only likes to drink Asian beer, this is totally the place to be! We met a girl on the bus who just finished a year teaching in Cambodia and the journey felt instantly shorter with new people to talk to, exchanging stories and advice. When we got here it was insanely empty which was really confusing but it turned out everyone was at the river. Booked into Central Backpackers where we had our first showers in days and could finally put our bags down, which was amazing. I think you have to be here to really understand what it's really like but it's just an amazing place to hang out. The scenery is gorgeous, we are in the middle of no-where and you can just go up and down the river all day along the bars, meeting people and collecting friendship bracelets as you go. We have so many photos which I can't wait to show you all. We are all really well, the weather is wonderful, even when it rains it never lasts long and it's remains so warm. Don't know where we'll go next, so many choices, but I think we'll just see how we feel in a few more days, as long as we end up back in Thailand before the 3rd our options are totally open. Hope you are all well and enjoying yourselves 😊

Peace and lots of love from Katie
