The Story of Tanabata as told by Sanae

You know there are stars called Vega and Altair. These are seen only in summer and there is a story of these stars. Vega is a girl from rich parents and Altair is a boy (cowboy) from not really rich parents and they are happily in love. But one day since 2 of them are too much in love to work so Vega's father was angry and made a huge river to separate them. (this star river is seen between Vega and Altair) And Vega's father allowed them to see each other only once in a year which is 7th July

Well, who doesn't love star cowboys? Sanae and I celebrated Tanabata this evening in our own unique way. Generally for Tanabata you decorate a bamboo tree with coloured decorations, and on your favourite colour dedcoration you write down a wish for the future. Well, the bamboo trees were sold out so we stuck some other plants on the balcony and decorated those instead, calling out "Happy Tanabata!" to those walking by on the street below. before retiring indoors to the air conditioning, traditional tanabata Soumen (noodles) and many glasses of wine......

HAPPY TANABATA!
