I wanted to document for friends and family my Japan experience when I started this blog. I also planned to travel abroad a lot, which have now been put on hold indefinitely. Surprise, surprise a second baby is on the way. Whew!!! as if carrying a baby and a stroller up and down subway stairs, changing nappies on a tight airplane lavatory are not enough detriment on traveling, and not to mention the cost of having children. No complaining here folks, but I guess its now time to move this blog to the kiddie-playpen-at-the-mall-for-5-consecutive-weekends-blog.com.

Although there were no exciting traveling involved, our schedule went crazy with my in-laws visit wanting to meet my mother, here in Osaka. My sister in law booked all of us in a not so exciting Kobe city tour which includes a bus tour of the city and a cruise. Kobe in the daytime is just like any other city in the world. Good enough there was a sake museum included in the tour, boy that definitely saves the day! Back in Osaka we did rounds of the usual city stops and must see tourist traps. the good thing bout the whole experience is we got

just the cake, the celebrant is having a bad day
stuffed dining-out for almost three full days.

More personal but definitely an important milestone to parenthood. My son turned a year old just last month. Sadly, there were no decent pictures of his birthday celebration as he saw fit to throw a tantrum on his special day. Good thing a weeek after his birthday was Kodomo no hi (children's day) just in time for my in-laws visit. We hung colorful carp streamers outside our apartment and dined-out as the tradition goes to give honor and wish for my son's good fortune. Well yes, I assumed religion, ethnic culture, fortune, materialism are somehow all entwined in most Japanese tradition.

This is not exactly what travelblog should be made of..exciting travel had to give way to double parenthood for the time being. Anyway to friends and family, enjoy Akira's pictures. I know you all want to celebrate with us as he turned one.
