Gili T is amazing. It's an amazing little paradise. And somehow, EVERYONE on the island knew my name. I probably told my name to about 5 people on the island and after three days we would walk down the street and everyone would say hello to me by name. Not Stephanie for some reason, but always "Hi Katrina." Another favorite was "What's up dude?" as that is apparently what Indonesians think that Americans say every other sentence. Funny at first, a little wearing when you get it everytime you walk down the street and there is only one street on the island. We honestly didn't do that much on Gili T unless you count lying on the beach/ by the pool/ in our air conditioned room. Stephanie went on a fishing trip with some English guys we met but I stayed in bed with an awful cough and cold. Stephanie also went snorkeling but I sat that one out too. So, to sum up Gili T...

1) It's like Cheers. Everyone knows your name. It's actually a little creepy.

2) There are cats everywhere and not a single one has a normal tail. I didn't take a photo but

there was one cat whose tail actually formed a square it was so sharply bent.

3) The icecream man is a guy with a bicycle with a cooler strapped on the back and a tape player on the front playing icecream man music.

4) I have never been so hot or sweat so much in my life. Easily over 100 everyday with humidity in probably the 90s.

5) I have always taken for granted fresh water showers. I have now learned to appreciate them.

6) The currents between the islands are amazingly strong. Even if you're in the really shallow water you end up really far from where you started.

So, we are now back in Bali. We decided that as nice as Gili T is, we are not experiencing Indonesia. This morning we took the fast boat back to Bali and we are now back in Kuta, which we have decided to use as a base to take day or two day trips from. Bali is small enough that it's easy to just do day trips rather than lug our stuff on public transportation. This way we can leave our backpacks in our hotel

here and just take a day pack. We have two more weeks on our visa so as of now, our plan is to stay on Bali and visit Ubud (kind of the cultural/arts center of the island), Dreamland (apparently an amazing beach), as well as some other cultural sites. From Bali we are thinking that we will fly to Bangkok and then visit Laos and Cambodia before doing the rest of Thailand and after Thailand we will visit Malaysia and Indonesia again (yes, we like it that much) before winding our trip up.
