Monkey Forest Temple Bridge
In the Monkey Forest is a temple that looks like it came out of middle Earth! Let's just say we have more than one picture of this bridge. Whoa...so I just noticed it's been nine days since our last post. I think one of the biggest things we've been noticing since arriving in Bali is that time does fly, and that's without television, movie theaters, music and interwebs at our usual disposal and...we're loving it! I think both K and I are finally adjusting to the heat and humidity and the blazing sun that has turned yours truly from a see-thru irish lass, to the tannest this body will probably ever be, once all the peeling is done. And K well, you can only imagine how brown he is, especially with the hours, almost full days he has dedicated himself to learning to surf. He even managed to break his first board! I think that qualifies him as a true surfer😊
It's been such a pleasure staying here in Canggu and getting into a routine which both K and I have admitted missing. We're really getting to know our little nook in Bali and have taken a few day trips to different parts of the island. Last week, we got up extra early to head north and inland to a town called Ubud. It was nice to kinda

Obviously the law does not apply to him. get outside of the same streets (there's really only one you take in and around Canggu) and see how other parts of the island were set up. Once we got outside of the very busy hustle and bustle of Denpasar, Ubud was a pleasant change into really dense and beautiful forests with vines and even waterfalls falling into the streets. Ubud is known as an artists town, with tons of galleries and studios which we really enjoyed walking around and through and should we ever have to fill a home with art and furniture, Ubud is definitely going to be the place we go. Really beautiful and cool stuff! Ubud is also home of the infamous Monkey Forest. I must admit, K and I were both a bit nervous about these monkeys, from stories we've heard, and our run in with those crazy bastards in Thailand, but to our great relief, these monkeys were much more pleasant (except for the hilarious monkey who thru a nut at my head while K was taking a pic of me....jerk). We walked around the forest which was stunning with gigantic trees and green foliage and moss covered statues of monkeys, snakes, and warriors,

Getting away from the beach and into the middle of the island. This one was taken from the back of the scooter. watched the monkeys tease one another, eat and even climb on the heads of some very brave tourists...an overall good time! We ate at a new favorite restaurant we found in Ubud called Bali Buddha (which is also in canggu) and then took a little adventure up into the hills to look around and cool off.
Yesterday we decided to take a little adventure into the Bukit Peninsula. The day started out lovely and the scenery, once out of Kuta, was beautiful and driving up and over the first big hill and getting the view of the ocean off the cliffs was truly breathtaking. I've never seen such blue water! We stopped at a beach called Padang Padang, which after parking at the top, we had to make our way down and between a cliffside of concrete stairs which revealed a small white sand beach amongst large cliffs and rocks and about 30 other sun lovers and surfers. We swam in the light blue sea and explored a bit and then made our way back up to find a new spot to admire. Well, at this point, I will just interject a note to all travelers. Never leave anything
Symon Gallery - Ubud
You liiiiiike??? Post-modernism at it's sexiest! valuable in your scooter seat! While we had stopped to look out over some cliffs a while we noticed a questionable young lad walk out who kinda gave us a once over (we were pretty far from our bike) and turned around. When we came back we left and it wasn't until our next beach stop we noticed K's wallet was gone. Oy. We tried to look for it and even went to the police but in the end, we had to make our way back (thanks to a donation by one very lovely lady at a coffee shop, bless her heart!) and then spent a good 3 hrs trying to find a way to call our cc company and cancel our cards. No harm done, just a headache, but lesson learned.
Other then that, we've been having such a great time. K's managed to play soccer a bit and we've both been running (and sweating like we just did two bikram classes in a row!) and spending days beachside. It's also been quite nice getting to know our new friends, who are on our way to being family come the end of this trip. We just discovered that
Walking around Ubud
Stumbled upon a cool set of stairs leading to hidden villas and cool cafes. Ubud was fun to explore. we missed a rad show this past sunday (which we were basically next door to watching the liverpool game at earlier) of Holy Ghost, Treasure Fingers and Daniel Wang and just missed seeing Calvin Harris the weekend prior! Summer bummer...we've definitely got our finger on the pulse so hopefully we can catch a sweet show in the most beautiful venues on earth!
Until next time, we will try and not let so much time pass but man, it's so nice to be rid of all those things previously mentioned and to watch a sunset from start to finish, wait in the water for hours for a chance to ride a wave, to listen to the hilarious callings of the gecko and other such creatures as your only soundtrack and to read a book from start to finish. We never do that and it's really giving us a new perspective on things.
We love and miss all of our friends and family and wish so much you could be here with us to share in these moments. xo
