18 hours of flying later, we finally made it to Bangkok. In all honesty, the flight was not that bad, in fact we managed to get some pretty good sleep on both flights despite a packed plane and multiple babies on board (thank you Xanax!). After we gathered our bags and hired a taxi to Khao San Road (the neighborhood we were looking to stay in, also nicknamed "backpacker's ghetto), it was clear to both of us that Bangkok was nothing like we've ever seen before. Keep in mind, it was about 1:30am when we finally hopped in a cab, so the city was moreorless asleep, but it was still crazy to see beautiful temples amongst decaying buildings and pictures of the Thai king EVERYWHERE!
