White Sand Beach! Padangbai is a great little ferry port town. The people are friendly, the food is awesome, and the White Sand beach is small enough not to draw the attention of most tourists. Padangbai is regarded as most to be nothing more than an arrival/departure point on the way to bigger and better, but we both fell in love with the laid back feel and small family run establishments.
Here on the White Sand beach... we got our first dip in the ocean, our first beach mango, and Joanna got her first "washing machine". I jumped fearlessly into the surf (like they do in movies) only to be smacked down by the waves, turned upside down and I felt my bum skid accross the ocean floor... several times... I lost count! So much for the movies!
As a reward for my sore body and wounded pride Gunnar and I went for a fresh sea food dinner... and by fresh, the guy was acoss the street gutting the fish as we ordered! Grilled Mahi Mahi with a bowl of garlic butter on the side. Happiness is a bowl of garlic butter
