So after a few days in Bangkok, we all headed out to Koh Chang for a few days. It happened to co-incide with my Birthday, so a few buckets may have been had. Our wonderful friend Steve sprung for a night for us in a 4Star Hotel and we found ourselves staying there for 4 or 5 days. Its hard to say no to a little luxury after so many hard beds! Not to mention the 2 pools connected with a granite slip-in-slide!... read more
So after finding it extremely frustrating and nearly impossible for us to get to Lhasa from Kathmandu by road, and then stay in China, which they will not allow, we jumped a plane to Bangkok to see where it took us. $90 flight and we were on it with all the friends we had made in Nepal. Will never forget how Steve and I went looking for more wine and found the Flight Attendants smoking in the back room! They happily filled our glasses and pushed us back to our spots because we were the ones breaking the rules by being out of our seats! Anyhow, had a few days in Bangkok to do this and that. Filled up on the necessities, you know, Tom Yum, Green Curry and Chang! ... read more

Our flight out of Istanbul went through Bahrain, and of course our layover was extended for some reason or another. Landed KTM the next morning and made my way back to The Annapurna Guesthouse, where I stayed in 2006. Wonderful family run Hotel, very friendly, and very helpful for anything you may need. Thamel has changed a bit. More sketchy nudie bars line the back streets, but it still has its backpacker/mountaineer charm. Picked up Derrick and Jillene the next day. Spent a day celebrating being back together after their India travels and our Middle Eastern trip. Ate at The Yak more than a few times and had more Mo Mo's then humanly possible! But lets get down to business, you come to Nepal to trek, so permits, gear, money and a bus ticket and we ... read more
Yes we left the beautiful Mediterranean coast for snow? What the hell? Got off our bus to a snowstorm! It was 25 degrees Celsius 2 days ago? WTF? Oh well we soon warmed up in our hotel which turned out to be a cave carved into one of the huge chimney looking things from the Flintstones! Actually quite warm inside out of the snow! Next day we jumped on a tour as some of the stuff to see was further away then expected. Had great views of the Goreme Valley before we hit up the Underground City. Little known but there are 20 floors dug straight down into the ground and could house up to 30 000 people in times of war! Went on to Ihlara Valley for a hike where we saw a sheep charge ... read more
Oh Kas (Kash) I loved you so much! A beautiful Mediterranean Coastal town with Greece in the backdrop. Had a room here overlooking bay with incredible views. Walked through town and found a theatre just sitting there in the hill. Came down the other side and found a big market. So once again bought more olives and cheese and veggies to go with the excellent red wine! Should have stayed here longer!... read more
The beautiful Aegean coastal town of Fethiye on our next stop. Warm weather and cheap wine, even found a pension that gave us a full kitchen to cook in, excellent! Went to the market and bought like 8 kg of fruits and veggies!... read more
