I hate being one of those perth people who goes to bali all the time...but it the closest destination from perth at 3 hours and if you get a deal you can get tickets cheaper than to Melbourne or Sydney...plus of course meals only cost you $4 instead of $30....so so many reasons to go if you just want to get away.
We went for the 5 days over easter and booked a private 2 bedroom apartment in the Jayakarta. The room was really really nice...just like being in someones house! The hotel was nice with a couple of huge pools and a great location, right opposite the beach and cheap beach bars and right next to all the Legian restaraunts on the beach. Plus heaps of stalls and cheap food out the back of the hotel. But... although i emailed the guy during the week to confirm the hotel (an aussie owner) he was a bit strange in his response and sure enough, when we got there they didnt have our name and the staff just stood there looking blankly at me. Great when its past bedtime and 2 kids under 4 😞 I tried to call the owner
and the number went to voicemail and he never called back...and after lots of aruging and showing them heaps of documentation they let me have the key. We didnt unpack expecting the other people to show up at any point....but luckily they never did.
It was so great to relax and wander around and eat and sleep and swim whenever you want...joy 😊) The midgit is just getting old enough to play with other kids so i am really looking forward to that...him entertaining himself - wahoo! We found a couple of nicer looking beach bars where we could sit and not get too harassed and the kitchen looked slightly more hygenic than the ones being washed with beer lol! And we tried a different place for bfast every morning and they where all fantastic...what isnt for $2 hehe
The best part though and i highly recommend this to everyone with or without kiddies...was the Bali Marine and Safari park. The park itself was so so and probably only 1/2 days worth of looking at animals but they have a fantastic natural safari area set up and you can drive through on a bus looking at tigers patrolling
their areas etc. You can also go on an elephant and wander around looking at all the animals. But i think the best part was make sure you get a hut to stay in overnight. They were SOOOOO nice! And the pool was an infinity pool right beside the zebras and rhinoceroses (sp?). It was excellent and amazing to wake up in the morning and that is what youre looking at.
Oh, and if you do go over easter, take your own eggs 😊 Luckily i had one for the midgit this but had thought i'd pick up something for the hubby but there wasnt anything slightly easterish...fair enough really 😊
