Sorry about the delay, spending too much time doing nothing on fabulous islands, well one!
So arrived in Bali and took a taxi to Kuta. Definitely tell your in Asia, amazing amount of motorbikes everywhere. Spent a couple of days in Kuta wandering around the narrow streets trying to ignore all the touts and chillin on the beach avoiding all the touts!
Decided to head over to Ubud next, cultural capital of Bali. Loads of temples everywhere and had a quite relax wandering round all the crafty shops, walking in the padi fields and went over to monkey forest. Although 2 mins into the forest the monkeys all disappeared as we'd been caught in a tremendous downpour.
After 2 days in Ubud headed over to the Gili Islands, main idea was to finish off my PADI course. After 6hrs on a very slow ferry, watching flying fish and dolphins, arrived in Gili Trawangan. Got a room sorted and booked the carry-on course for the following day. the next few days were spent diving eating lovely food and drinking in a very cool beach style Irish bar!
Spent my bday in the Irish, good night but unfortunately had
Ground Zero
Bali bombing site, Kuta my final dive the following morning. Nothing better to beat a hangover!
A guy I met recommended a boat trip to Komodo so after checking it out decided to stay on Gili for a few more days and wait for the next departure date. Back to the dive shop with dive fever, enquired about the next speciality courses. Ended up signing up for the Open Water Advanced Course.
So loads more fun doing a wreck, night, deep(30m's), navigation and a nitrox(enriched air) dive. Also got another free deep dive which was the best of them all. So much fish life around and lovely dive sights. Saw turtles, sharks etc although didn't manage to find the illusive Manta ray. One day!
Lovely time on the Island and was quite sad to leave, very relaxed, nice food, cheap drinks, beaches, diving, need I say more.
Left at 6am for the boat trip and after driving across Lombok boarded our house for the next 4 days. really cool trip, stopped to snorkel numerous times, swam in a salt water lake and then made it over to Komodo. Just as we were starting the walk a huge dragon came ambling
down the path, everyone into the bushes to let the beast pass. Very cool! Nice walk round the island and also saw a Golden Oriole(bird)!
Had signed up for a couple of dives off Komodo aswell, so in the aftenoon swapped boats and jumped back in the water. Never seen anything like it, sooo much undamaged coral and loads of fish, slightly marred by the crazy currents that whipped you along but was still well worth it!
The second dive was more relaxed, again amazing diving! Over to Flores shattered and got back on the boat again. Went to Rinca dragon spotting the next day, another lovley walk and loads of dragons about!
More snorkelling on the way back and also throwing ourselves off a rope swing into a waterfall! All very fun!
Back in Lombok decided to go back to Gili T again. Just wasn't ready for the travelling again yet!
The next two weeks were spent doing not a lot, relaxing and more relaxing! Sailed over to Lombok for lunch in someones Catamaran and basically being an island bum!
Performed a slightly illegal, well corrupt, inextendable Visa extension as I'd decided to stay
Ubud
View over the padi fields for a little longer. Finally left on the 26th April and took a flight from Lombok to Jakarta, Java and connecting flight straight to Yogjakarta. Explored for a couple of days and took a tour to the Buddhist temple Borobodur. Interesting place!
Then on a bus over to Mt Bromo and up at 3am the following day to watch the sunrise over the volcano's. Very impressive landscape and you could see one volcano erupting every 20 mins! Climbed up Bromo aswell, very interesting to see inside!
Bus the same day back over to Bali. Had planned to do some more travelling around Bali but went straight to Kuta. Not really been up to much, eating, drinking, lazing by the pool etc. Just relaxing again, in preparation for more travelling, money allowing.
Also my camera is screwed again, no idea why and not really any way of fixing it so no pics from the end of Gili T or Java, Bali.
Next stop Kuala Lumpa 10th May.
