A trip to Himnagri We started our journey from Pithoragarh on 26th June at around 2 p.m., not a good time to start a journey especially in the pre-monsoon season in a hill station as it might rain in the evenings. We four lads Banti, Chintoo ,Lalli and me explored Pithoragarh a beautiful valley located on the China and Nepal border in Uttrakhand .Our actual plan was to reach Milam Glacier which later on confined only up to Munsiyari due to the time constraint. Well, we started this journey in our favorite Royal Enfields which we rode from Delhi. There are two routes from Pithoragarh to Munsiari which can be used to reach this heavenly location in Uttrakhand. The first route is via Kanalicheena, Ogla, Jauljibi , Madkot reaches Munsiyari and the another route ... read more

Day 1: Kathgodam to Birthi. This is how it all began. Rajesh and six of his colleagues were to attend another colleague, Manish’s wedding in Dharchula. It was to be a touch and go trip, as the travel time involved was a lot and these guys had only a day’s leave clubbed with a weekend… no boss would allow six of his men to go on leave simultaneously to attend the wedding of a seventh! Despite vociferous opposition from Rajesh’s friends, I wheedled my way into this all-male party as the opportunity to visit the border town of Dharchula was too good to resist. We left Dehradun by the Kathgodam Express on the night of 17th February 2011 and reached Kathgodam early next morning. Getting off at the picturesque and well maintained railhead put us in ... read more

Munsiyari A small hill station in the Kumaon region of Himalayas is now getting featured heavily in all the travel magazines. It is located at 7258 ft above and probably showcases one of the best views of five distinct peaks of Himalayas. These five peaks in a cluster called Panchachuli . The views described in these magazines made me decide a trip to Kumaon which I felt would be a must see. We started our journey from Kolkata by 3019 UP Bagh express which took us to the nearest railway station Kathgodam the 3rd day around 9:30 in the morning. From there we took a cab to Almora another hill station en-route Munsiyari in the Kumaon range of Himalayas. We took an overnight halt there and the next day morning took a private taxi to Munsiyari. ... read more

Kerala is called Gods Own Country but Uttaranchal is called the place where Gods abode. It is so beautiful that after visiting this State you realize that you are in heaven. This I realised two years back when I made my first trip to this home of Gods. I was so over awed by the sheer beauty of this place that I decided to return here again not knowing when. The moment arrived when Vijay and I decided to go on the tough Milam glacier trek. The moment, which I had been dreaming about for the last two years, had finally arrived. I had been surfing the net researching about the place we could go when I chanced upon “Camp in India” website. These guys were taking two treks this season, first to Sundardunga Glacier ... read more
