A One day trip to Hogenakkal This one day trip started with us waking up around 6. We used the public transport to get here from Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Tamil Nadu is a neighboring state and it takes about 5 hours to get to hogenakkal by Bus. We caught a bus from silk board to Dharmapuri. They give a 10 minute break at Hosur where you can have breakfast (From one of the stalls)..From Dharmapuri we had to catch a second bus to Hogenakkal. After you pass Pennagram on the way to Hogenakkal, you will find picturesque valleys on your left. if you want pictures, try to get a seat on the left side of the bus(I wish we had) ... Well, what more can I ask for, eh! Given my lust for travel and exploration, if I get an opportunity to pen down my experiences and have enthusiastic travel freaks read about them - my spirits would surely be lifted! So, I would like to exploit this oppurtunity to the fullest and talk about my adventure in a place called Hogenakkal (also spelt as Hokenkal), which lies on the Karnataka - Tamil Nadu border. It is home to a number of magnificent waterfalls. Also, the song - 'Dil hai Chota sa' from the famous hindi movie 'Roja' was shot in it's serene and beautiful environments. This was my first trip after landing in Bangalore.It was an sudden trip by rams and myself. Since we were only two people we decided to take the TNSTC buses to the falls. We boarded the bus at Silk Board Junction to Hosur since we couldn't get any direct bus to Dharmapuri. We landed up at hosur and since it was weekend all the buses bound to dharmapuri were crowded . It was a standing journey till Dharmapuri. We had our breakfast @ dharmapuri and took a bus to the Hokenakal falls. We reached the falls at around 11.30 . So many people surrounded us asking for the coracle rides.One good guy took us around for Rs 400 and also did some good oil massage .
