The words "mandir" and "mandira" are commonly used in India for "Hindu temple", and so these words are also often used in connection with Vaishno Devi. Vaishno Devi ‘Vaishno Devi’ temple is one of the most popular religious spot in India. More than 10 million pilgrims visit Vaishno Devi every year. Like Tirupati in South, Vaishno Devi is in North. Vaishno Devi is located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (Jammu region). The temple is located on a 2800 ft high Trikuta Mountain. To go to Vaishno Devi, you first go to Jammu (a major railway head in North India). From Jammu, travel by road to Katra – 50 km (1 ½ hrs). Katra is at the base of the mountain. At Katra, one has to register for the Yatra. Registration helps in keeping some control over the numbers of pilgrims going up the mountain at a time. Hi everyone, Well so many amazing experiences since the last post. The Nepalese government have introduced hydro electricity which you might think is a good thing, but they sell 90% of there electricity to India so they only have power for a few hours a day. Did you know that there are 112 different types of meditation? I didn't. Only one of these types are the sitting still type with eyes closed. I experienced some interesting meditation methods! Got up at 6:20am. I had a dream that it rained the whole night, even when I got up I was thinking hopefully they won’t cancel the helicopter since it is cloudy and raining heavily, but fortunately it was just a dream and it was actually sunny and pleasant outside. After the morning routine went down met Mataji who had already arranged for a Taxi. The taxi came at 7:30am and we left immediately. She had also arranged for packed breakfast which we had on our way to Katra. Nice rotis, Aloo curry and a fantastic mixed pickle in which one of the veggies was raw jackfruit. It was simply irresistible. We reached katra at about 8:30am and went to shrine board and collected the VIP darshan pass and a reco letter for Global helicorp/global vectra ... read more
