This is where we moved to, on the 26th of April. We were living in Tibetan Ashoka Guest House in McLeoed Gunj. We decided to move away from the city (yup, we will come right back) to the quieter little village of Bhagsu. Bhagsu was nothing by hills about four years ago. Now, it is hopping with modern hotels, guest houses, and a ton of people from Israel. Here is where the party is at! One tip, now on when you try to picture this part of the world, please throw in Yoga, massage and meditation centers, as many as you wish. Get creative. Maa Chamunda Temple: - The temple is dedicated to the goddess Chamunda in her terrific form and is the presiding deity of the temple. the temple is located in the hill top. it has a pent roof ordinary type of temples in the area, but has beautiful wool carving preserved in it. In the ceiling several panels have been carved which make the temple artistically important. In those panels four-armed Shiva is standing wearing a Tiger's skin, holding a trident and a cup in his two left hands and a damru in the upper right hand while the fourth one hangs down. the figure of Siva looks like a rustic. 25-30 km from Chamba city in Khajjiar lovely and attractive place to watch and enjoy. It is well known picnic spot. You will enjoy more and more in Khajjiar when photographers bound you to have photographs in Chamba's local dress or Chambyali dress. Its beauty has further been enhanced by a small lake in the center with a floating Island and a temple of Khajjiar deity. There is plenty of wild life in the forest and the area has been brought under wild life sanctuary. There is a 9 hole golf ground here but is no more in regular use. Maa Suhi Devi Temple:- Suhi Temple and the legends that adhere to it are as old as the Chamba town itself. The Suhi temple is situated on an elevation of shah-mandhar hill in the east of the town. According to an old story Chamba was in very difficult conditions due to water. Water is not easily available in Chamba. The Charpat Nath Yogi said to Rani that one member from the king's family have to sacrifice if they want to bring water in Chamba. The same night, Rani Sunayana , wife of Sahil Verman, had a dream that only if she sacrifices her son ,husband the state and herself. Water would flow into the channel. Luxmi Narayan Temple:- Which occupies a large compound in the northern sector of the town. Six large temples stand in a row facing east, three temples are devoted to Lord Vishnu and three other to Lord Shiva constituting the largest group in this part of the country. Luxmi Narayana is the presiding deity of Chamba town. It is a vakunth murti of marble covered with acretitionery clothes, jewellery and golden caskets bearing portraits of rajas of Chamba. Another worth mentioning is the bronze group of Gauri Shankar (c.1025 AD) standing in fluid grace, Nandi depicted behind the divine couple. Smilingly Gauri and Shankar look on the devotees with benevolence and with abhay-mudra blessed them ever. Strict schedule of pooja archana is followed through out the day.... read more
