and ohmigosh are you guys ok? have you recovered? please say you don't have disentery or anything. I read too many travel novels than aregood for my imagination. lb says that in baton rouge there arehurricanes. good lord, i am going to have to pull together a lot ofmagic to keep y'all in once piece.met the dalai lama yet? hope your stalker training at bryn mawr willhelp you out. tell arielle that I am pushing for your meeting the dear ole dalai. i think that is how it is spelled. I am really tempted just to spell it dolly llama. but he might misenterpret that as disrespect. though i think the guy has a healthy sense of humour. he has to, what with all his travel. he can probably feel this email in his enlightened brain. if you are listening, dear dolly, please travel to meet two americangirls, they are very nice and somewhat weakened. they REALLY want to say sup to you.much love, Zoe

so we showed up this morning with the crowd of locals. there's some conference going on about improving himachel pradesh (the province (?) that we're in) and the dalai lama is part of it, so they were just delivering him to the conference place. it wasn't advertised so we were two of only a few tourists - mostly monks and old old tibetan men and women were there. didn't get to see much as they rushed him from the car up the steps and into the building pretty damn quickly.

but never fear, dear readers, we will continue to use our excellent stalker abilities to see/meet the holy man. zoe, i hope he felt your email.

ps... know what i'd love? to hop on a motorcycle, swing the dalai lama onto the back, and go tearing up and down the mountains with my hair blowing all over the place and his robes flowing behind us in the wind.

that, though, may have to stay a dream...
