So here we are in Goa, weather wise its beautiful, nice and hot but its also a bit humid and sticky. Its very lush and green and a bit 'jungly' as we were driving along to Panjim. We arrive at the guest house - THE AFONSO -and wonder what all the fuss was about - the owner insisting that we pay our monies up front and the palaver we had doing so... But were here now and it is nice enough - I think were just tired and that's making us unimpressed with everything. We unpacked and went for a walk round the town, its strange it seems very Mediterranean which I know is the Portuguese influence but your in India so there's that as well... its a little strange I'm finding it funny that Ive just seen a shop were the owner is Raj Fernandez... Hee, Maybe its just me, and I am tired... We SELL OUT and go for Dominoes Pizza, which incidentally turned out to be the most expensive meal we had in India... I enjoyed it-DK not so much because a man asked him to take a photo of him and his girlfriend, then him eating pizza, then the girlfriend eating pizza, then them feeding each other...they were proper posing and preening, I was laughing my head off, DK didnt want to be David Bailey photograhy man he wanted to be eating pizza man. I would have happily taken as many pictures of them as they wanted 😊 After lunch we walk back to the and have a little sleep, we are on the terrace (and I use the term lightly) deciding what to do - there doesnt seem much going on in the town having already walked around it, DK wants to go somewhere else either up or down the coast and whilst I cant be bothered packing up again I suppose it seems quite sensible. We go out and bump into Dorothy and Trevor from Tazmania who are leaving Panjim later today and give us a few ideas of where to o and what to do recommending a few guest houses along the way, we decide that we will go to Fort Aguada first(next to Candolim) which they have told us is ok and only about half hour away. We decide to go straight away and then if we like somewhere we will come back pack up and go... THANK GOD WE DID... Fort Aguada//Candolim is a holiday resort, one long main street with the obligatory shops and restaurants (you could be anywhere in the med - minus the cows and pigs) past this street we found the beach and it looks ok. We decide that we are going to stay based in Panjim and travel out, well we have paid for the room anyway and I can tell that there is no way the landlady will give us our money back!). We walk along the beach to the ship wreck and have a drink and sit on loungers at SUDAHS SHACK. DK is now in a better mood now thats hes found somewhere to go 😊
Now we are sat in THE STONEHOUSE, Im having a wine and soda and DK is having a Fosters... SOLD OUT AGAIN - Am I in India or the Med? Its full of tourists (of course it is) but everyone else is all dressed up and we well basically look like tramps - ha ha ha! We decide to go and eat in Panjim tonight, looking round here though the food looks ok lots of people eating lots of meat - ARE THEY CRAZY!!! The weather is still humid and sticky. So up to now DAY 14 has turned out to be ok. Just texting a few people back home apparently the weather is awful there,so I shouldnt moan about the humidity really should I?
We ended up eating at the STONEHOUSE - Goan fish curry and prawn vindaloo with rice bread etc. Was really good food. I have never eaten vindaloo before - i doubt it tastes like this at home! Delicious! We left not long after eating got a taxi to the main square in Panjim, walked to the dairy, got ice-cream and went back to the room. All in all a good day...
