Palolem Beach
Small cove and one of the nicest beaches in Goa We arrive in Palolem and walk up the beach again to find the right spot for us which we do. Then head for a swim. There is a big rock sticking out of the water and there are 4 people on it. I decide we should head out and join them, hoping there will be a good jump off is somewhere. As we arrive they all leave so we climb up anyway. The rock is actually hard to get on to and I slip off. I felt a tear on my shin and I fell backwards on to a rock in the sea. I sheepishly swin back to the beach in pain. Thats just typical!! juat as the cut on my knee is healing I get new war wounds.
The cut isn't too bad but on advice from my traveling nurse I have to keep it covered, which means every time i swim I have to go and rebandage it. It is important I guess because it's not as clean here so things get infected and dont heal. What a pain!! I'll have to start climbing stuff.
There are new noise laws in Goa, and maybe all of India, that
Me
with bandage on leg all music, parties etc.. have to be finished by 11pm. So now there are lots of headphone parties everywhere. We went to one but it was expensive so we stayed for the live music and didn't rent the headphones.
The next day we were chilling on the beach then head up in to Palolem to get a few things. We are both in really good moods and wander arond town for a while relaxed looking in shops, for once all the hustle and bustle seems to have quietened down and we shop for a while talking to the locals and getting some free food.
Maeve finds a perfect sun dress that she wanted and I decide to get my lip pierced, slightly random but it seemed like a good idea. I also got a new earing and pendant for my chain.
I have noticed the beer isn't tasting so good lately which is worring, then all of a sudden I get cramps and the rest. I think all the abuse I have been giving my body has finally caught up on me. The only problem is it's a friends last night so I have to go out.
Going out was definitely a bad idea!! I end up basically in bed for 2 days with cramps, no vomiting thank god.
Depression sets in after a while, and for hours at a time I feel content lying in bed doing nothing but feeling sorry for myself. Not that I'm in a bad situation or anything can't really complain, but sure I do anyway. Between my bandage on my left leg, my sore lip (self inflicted, fair enough), cuts on my other foot, and my sore bowls and regular toilet trips I feel pretty shit. I know it won't last long so I'm going to rough it in bed.
Tip: Unless you are getting a long bus/train/plane journey etc... do not, I repeat, DO NOT take imodium. Especially not more than 2 a day.
After a few days I'm on the mend, still not drinking and eating well, so should be 100% soon. We have been having early nights but still having fun, no mad parties but thats just fine. We were going to check out a party one night and found a nice pub playing some live music, apparently it was open mike night and we had
lots of fun. I was on tea all night but maeve was drinking, i think it's the first time she has drank more than me since we have been away and her part of the tab was way more too.
Feeling much better now a few days on and have made an important decision, I'm not going to go ahead with my plan to sell maeve here in India. She has been far too useful to me helping me get better and keeping my cuts clean.
We spend days on the beach chilling and just relaxing to take a break, beach walks and walks to town for food etc...
I'm not sure why, but my liking for this palce comes in waves, I am so happy to be here again, and so happy to have so much ahead of me.
Final thing, the food here is fine!
If you take it easy and get used to things slowly you will be able to eat anything really quickly. I started on just veg, now I'm eating chicken, lamb, fish, some fresh and some in currys. We have even been eating the salad and eating food from the local
street stalls.
Now we are at the beach in Goa which is about as clean as it gets, so if else where be careful but we have found once you take it slow it's fine.
