The Birthday Edition

On 8th October 2008, Georgia turned one - a big day in our household. Where has the year gone? Simone should know as she was a awake for most of it! But it seems to have passed in the blink of an eye. Not long ago, Georgia was a generally compliant little bundle, swaddled in so many clothes and blankets we sometimes had to send in a search party to find her. She would sleep on my chest, nestle in the crook of Simone's arm, and be dwarfed by the cot we finally put her into. Now she is a sweet little girl with her own mind, capacity to communicate it, and Simone-like determination to secure the outcomes she thinks appropriate to her circumstances. Combined with the echo of her mother's smile, she is already a formidable person.
