We left Yanshou by bus to Guilin, then night train to Shenzen which is where we went through customs for the stamp etc. to get into Hong Kong.An administrative province of China although very different on the other side-no smoking on trains, buses and fines for spitting etc. So the MTR to Causeway Bay was comfortable, quick and easy to navigate as everythings in English! Big change from the last 8 weeks,we can relax a bit more than usual.
Since the last time I was here in 1986 a lot has changed in terms of buildings, notably skyscrapers, there has been big developement and they're taller now!. I didn't recognize alot apart from the Star Ferry which hasn't changed and Ned Kellys Bar in Kowloon next door to where I worked.
We explored both sides using the ferry and took a trip up the "Peak" on a very steep train for terrific views of Hong Kong. The old trams are a good way to see some of Admiralty and Causeway. Shopping and eating were the top" two things to do" in Hong Kong.
