China continues to amaze us . Thankyou you all for your wonderful comments , its really good to know that people do have a look and are interested in where we are. its also a way of keeping in touch with you all as up til now the itinerary has been so full it is difficult to respond to everyone. It should get better time wise in the next few weeks or perhaps it wont!! But do keep on commenting , i know it will help when i am on my own.
We left Shanghai three, or was it four days ago and before flying to Kunming and onto Dali in the Sw we visited a very pretty though touisty village called Zhujiajiano about an hour from shanghai. It llooks like the Venice of china will canals gondalas and windy narrow streets. Kunming was a pit stop after a very long day arriving at 10 at night and back to the airport for an 8.15 flight to dali , we were totally exhausted . Still dali is a mountain city with lots to recommend it It has a very large lake the second largest in China and a wonderful old world
feel.. We had two days there and then drove for 4 hours up the mountains amongst some spectacular scenery to where we are now. This part of China is so different from the hustle and bustle of the big cities , it reminds me of first, alpine villages and then the mountains of bolivia and peru. The province is home to over 11 ethnic minorities the largest group are the Naxi and you can see people wearing their national dress as they wander about their business - fascinating. See what you think ! Tomorrow we drive again for the whole day to Shang re la (Zhongdan) really high up at over 3,000 metres.bWe stop off to see the yangtze do a 905 bend and hopefully see some amazing sites, Al will stay here in lijiang and join us again back in Kunming for where this ppart of the tour ends and we fly to Hongkong

Great photos
Looks a fabulous trip! Love the photos. If you fly back out of Shanghai, make sure you take the Mag-Lev train to the airport form Pudong. We clocked in at 430 kmh - quite the 8 minute thrill....
