The Great Wall at Huangya Pass
We have been planning this trip for a while, trying to work our which part of the wall will be the best to visit and we chose this section as it is less busy and hopefully less crowded! Picnic was packed, kids in the car and Mr Lv ready for our long
drive ahead. Andy's work friend and her partner came with us to show us around which was a great help!!We knew it was going to be around 2 and a half hours to get there so we sat back and relaxed saving all of our energy ready for the long walk waiting for us......only thing was every one in China had the same plan and we ended up in a big traffic jam! it looked like the M25 in England, it took us 4 and a half hours to get there in the end but it was worth it!! Tina sorted out our tickets and we had the option of taking a taxi up to the top of the Wall and then walk back down......Matthew was a little shocked at the fact that yes, we were at the top of the Great Wall but there was still lots of walking up and down the mountain ridges!!!
It was amazing to be so high up, above the trees and to see all the tiny buildings down below. And even though there were quite a few people there it was still peaceful. Tina, our Chinese friend
experienced what it is like to go out with the boys, we must have stopped a good 20 times to have photos taken with Chinese people and their families!! To look at the Wall from the start, it seems to go on forever and ever, over one mountain and then the next....a great achievement to say we have walked along the Great Wall. Matthew made it with no problems, Tina had a job to keep up with him!! William made it half way but due to the large steep steps in places Daddy had to give him a helping hand because his little legs were to short to reach!!
