I got up at around seven ish this morning. Breakfast is at eight, but I wanted to get my. Laundry washed early so that it dries before leaving. We are expecting another 40 degrees again today so that shouldn't be a problem. Breakfast was good today. We had toast, cold boiled eggs, peanut butter, jam, water melon and some cold turnip stuff. Everyone tucked in! It was a bit of a treat having peanut butter and jam!
12 of the group went for a wall after breakfast. We knew it was only going to be a short one due to the heat, but to be honest, I felt like I just needed a bit of down time after all the ravelling yesterday. Laura, Zoe, Louisa, Mel and Abbie also gave themselves the morning off. We all took it real easy! We did a bit of sunbathing, a bit of chatting, sat around, a spot of badminton was even considered, then I did a bit of braiding before I took a shower and packed ready for leaving. A pleasant time was had by all! Lunch of egg fried rice was ready by the time the rest of the group returned.
About 5 of us had filled up at breakfast so we gave it a miss. Apparently, it wasn't do good due to the accompanying protein..... Maggots.... I was very pleased I didn't bother! We were packed up and o. The coach o Shanghai by 1.30pm. We arrived at the hostel. From the outside it is two very old doors..... And nothing else. It looked a wreck of a place, but once inside and up the stairs, it is quite nice ! I set straight off looking got the Apple store, twice I set off, lost my way, then returned whilst I was still in control of knowing where I was. Then I thought I would get a taxi, that should be easier! I finally got a taxi to stop, but I just could not make him understand! I was really frustrated by now. For my final attempt, I got the girl on the hostel to write the place and address down for me in Chinese, then off I went again. I tried for half an hour to flag a taxi, nightmare, have you ever tried to flag a taxi in Shanghai, it is impossible!
Finally, one stopped, I got
in, showed him my bit of paper, he looked at me, then went off his little chinky chonk head!! Obviously, I got nowhere, and by then was frustrated and angry. I came back to the hostel upset with myself! Any one who knows me will know how my OCD would kick in at this point..... Not getting a job done! I was due to go on the Shanghai pub crawl, but felt too upset with myself, and totally not in the mood. Then I was I talked to Neil, our new guide, he spoke with me, rang his Dad. We are meeting at 9.30 to go to get it sorted. With this in order I felt much better, and ready to go! I got ready in five minutes flat off we went on the pub crawl. I am pleased I went, just to say, " I did a pub crawl in Shanghai" but it wasn't quote the same party for me as it was for the others, but I did had a good time, a few beers, and a bit of a dance! It sort of didn't really compare to a night out!
