my kids!
Grade 1 kids...so cute and so crazy, lol After my last class yesterday around 4:00, I got back to the room and decided that it was really rediculous that we had to go down the street to the internet cafe and buy something even just to check our email or quickly look up something especially when there are tons of computers on the school's campus. So, I called Carol and asked her if there was a computer somewhere I could use to get online for a little while. She said that she'd have the computer teachers come look at the problem, and surprisingly he actually showed up knocking on our building's door 5 minutes later. Luckily I was there to let them in and they were there for awhile looking at different things with the modems and on my computer. They said that they had to get a new box of somesort and that we should be online tomorrow...
Later, last night Drew told me that Carol had told him to let me know that the two of us were to meet someone at the front gate at 8:30 in the morning (today). She said that it was some kind of activity in the center of the town
having to do with the kids that was too difficult to explain..and that since neither of us have morning classes on Wed. we were to come. Drew was pretty annoyed that we had to get up, and that she was so vague..but with nothing else to do until my 12:45 class today, I was excited to go on what sounded like a feild trip into the center of the town.
Haha..so we went to the front gate this morning at 8:30am and no one was there. Immediatly Drew decided that if no showed up in 15 min..we should just leave, but Carol appeared a few minutes later and told us to get into a car with her, and the driver that drove us from Shanghai before. Still really curious about where we were going, I remembered what they told us during our orientation about how Chinese people do not understand why foreigners need to know the plan at all times, even if they have nothing to do with making hte plans...so I decided to just go with the flow and laugh and see where we ended up. We turned down a few roads and Carol asked us to look
for mistakes on the English street signs..then we got to one which she knew was there and had been looking for, and she had the guy pull over. We then had to get out of the car and pose for pictures of the 3 of us standing in front of the sign while Drew wrote down the correction, LOL. It wasn't even a big mistake..just that they wrote Guaydong North Road, unstead of North Guaydong Road..but anyway, so we continued driving around to signs that Carol knew were wrong, posing in front of them and writing down the corrections for the next hour..pretty random, lol..and definitely an "Only in China" experience.
Feeling kind of bad I think, Carol said she'd call the computer guys again when we got back, and told me to wait in the apt. building to let them in. I told her I'd be there til 11:45 and then sat out in the lobby and read for about an hour until they finally came. An Indian lady also moved in during that time, Mickey brought her to the apartment on the 1st floor..and I overheard her say she was from Bombay, but haven't met her yet.

interesting Chinese swing-set and Drew talking to a kid She's kind of older, but seems nice.
After that, I had lunch at the noodle shop across the street, taught 4 classes in a row, and then ate this really weird mix between a pear and apple which was pretty good. haha..then I came back and an hour or 2 later the internet worked!
After going online for awhile and getting annoyed at how slow it is..i went to try to exchange 2 of the dvds that i bought down the street that don't work..but of course i couldn't cause they were open. I then however decided to explore across the street from the store however and discovered this whole garden...it's soo nice 😊 i took some pics, and happened to have my book with me so i read for a little while there next to a water fall...which was nice. Kind of funny, cause anyone that noticed me stood and watched me read but I'm pretty much getting used to that, lol. One old man sat facing me for awhile and then stood up came over and said "Goodmorning", lol I definitely laughed cause it was about 6pm but I said hi and he laughed and walked

playground and the field of the high school next door away. On the way back I had my last adventure of the day..buying bandaids. For some reason you can only buy medicine and anything having to do with medicine, including bandaids, in these "green cross" stores. So I took a bandaid wrapper with me and showed it to the pharmacist guy and he gave me this funny flat envelope of bandaids..kind of strange that they only had one option but whatever..lol
oh, ps. shanah tova <3
