mmm street food
Check out the car in the background= garage. Shanghai, well if like busy cities that are hot and sweaty here is the place to come.
We got up early on the 14th and caught a coach to Shanghai and then went to a hostel which we booked. It was a good job as when we arrived they were already full and still other travellers were pilling through the door to try and get in. Even so it was quite a good hostel to meet people. We got our bags behind the desk and went straight for some food, which was evidently served out of someones garage on the street- was'nt the nicest food i've had here.
With no time to loose we caught the metro straight to the Shanghai museum which is hailed as a must see. Hmm. We were a bit dissapointed really but still we wandered around a took in what we could.
After that we headed to the 'posh' bit of shanghai where we had booked a place at the theatre to see an acrobatic performance. This was AMAZING! We didnt know what to expect but this was so good, with a guy on a slack rope riding a one wheeled bike, and woman
who could bend her bodies in way i never knew were possible. Lots of balancing acts too and juggling but very quickly and with about (no lie) 10 balls.
After the amazing performance we wandered around a got to see Shanghai at night all the lights and tall buildings. We caught the metro back to the hostel and after our early start headed to bed.
15th July
Today we headed across the river and went to visit the tallest tower in Shanghai and visit a chinese sex culture exhibition in a museum but unfortunately the exhitbition was not to bed found. We walked around and then decided we wanted to go to the acquarium. It has the longest underwater tunnel in an a acquarium in the world!! We saw lots of things and it made me feel like a kid again.
We then got some lovely food and treated ourseleves to a nice restaurant meal (it still only cost &4).
We ventured back to the hostel and met some people who were going out for a few drinks so we joined them. Was nice to go out and see a bit more of Shanghai at night.

Daisy went home today :-(
We got up and headed to the Yuyuan gardens which are so tranquil compared to the hustle and bustle of shanghai. We Wandered around the traditional buildings and also chilled by the ponds, holding home to loads of fish and turtles which was cool to see.
We then wandered around the crafty kind of shops, saw millions of chop sticks and random crap on sale.
Then came back to hostel and went and got some chinese dumplings which are yummy. Daisy then packed and we walked here to the train to the airport and we were so sad to see her leave.
We felt a bit sad that she had left so me and Olina walked down East Nanjing rd to see the lights and to our surprise there were loads of chinese people running around andtaking pictures of a black basketball player. He walked right by us and i still dont know who he is but apparently he was famous and worhty of getting his autograph...but then we are in china, there are alot of people anywhere so who knows how famous he is! :-)
We then
came back to hostel and sat in the bar for a bit chatting to people and then headed to bed.
Liked Shanghai but its so busy, i'm looking forward to Huang Shang mountain (Yellow mountain) and the scenery.
