Hi All,

So with us being home early we decided to go out and do a recce mission for when my family come over next month. We've been meaning to visit this place for a long while but I think it rained when we planned it last time.
Getting to Xiaoshajiang is not exactly hard but it is uncomfortable. It's a total of about four hours but the roads high up in the mountains are shale and a little bit scary but believe me it's worth it. The road goes through rice terraces, bamboo forests, tea plantations with some of the most incredible scenery I think I've ever seen.
Xiaoshajiang is not how I imagined it would be. After visiting the other minority groups there was a certain amount of tourism, whereas here there appeared to be no sign of tourism what so ever. We stayed in what seemed to be the only hotel.
We took a motorbike taxi up into the mountains and then just walked around to see what we could find. We wandered down these dirt tracks and found houses tucked away. One man actually chased us to offer me a cigarette. We did however go in the wrong direction but it really didn't matter because the landscape and scenery was just breathtaking.
After a sit down we went off in the right direction in the afternoon but unfortunately we didn't make it to where we wanted to go because of the weather. The heavens opened at one point and we would of got a drenching if it wasn't for the kind gentleman who let us sit under his porch with his family. Once it eased off we said thank you and headed back into town.
Once back in town there was a lively market with ladies all dressed in there traditional costume.
I can see us going back here again and again because it really is beautiful.

Enjoy the photos and Jah Bless
