Hi All, With all the rain, fog and general dampness here in Hunan at the minute Shaoyang is not exactly looking at her best. The streets are just covered in mud and there seems to be rubbish everywhere. It does get you down a little bit to see the city in such a state. For all the Chinese nationalism they really don't seem to care what the city in which they live in looks like. The photos are from a walk to the supermarket and the DongTa park. Enjoy the photos Jah Bless... read more

Hi All, Well my time in Britain is just about up. I couldn't leave without doing a quick tour of central London to take some photos of some of the best known streets and buildings. I also couldn't miss out on the opportunity to visit the grave of Karl Marx in Highgate cemetery. To be honest I knew very little about Marx until I went to China. I had planned to visit Highgate on Saturday straight after arriving from Amsterdam but the plane was late due to the snow and to be honest I was just too tired. I had to wait until Monday again because of the weather, a light dusting is enough to bring the whole city to a stand still. I've had a fantastic time back in Britain seeing all my friends and ... read more

Hi All, So my time is up in Sleaford so it's back down to London for the night and then on to Amsterdam with my brother, as an early 40th birthday present. This is the forth time I've been to Amsterdam, the second time in sub-zero temperatures, and I must say that I have enjoyed my time here this time, I didn't last time. For the first time I saw the city and not just the inside of bars, brown cafes and coffee shops. Amsterdam has some really striking buildings and with it being so small, but unfortunately freezing cold, you can just wander around aimlessly and find some really old buildings. We were a little worried on the Friday when the snow really came down but the traffic and trams were soon moving again, they ... read more

Hi All, We went in search of the remains of a church of The Knights Templar. It is supposed to be one of the few places left in Britain to have any ruins from the Templars. The Templars were big landowners in Lincolnshire and all of their Lincolnshire holdings were run from the church. The church fell into disrepair after the dissolution of the monasteries. After passing through RAF Cranwell, which is the officer training and pilot training college, we went to Byard's Leap. The story goes that an old witch lived on the crossroads of Ermine Street and Newark Road and the locals were very afraid of this powerful and ugly old crone. One day a knight was passing by, returning from the crusades, and the locals asked him to help them get rid of ... read more

Hi All, Back to Manchester, funny I've never been before and now I've been twice in a week, to see Leanne, my oldest daughter, and Craig, her partner. We had a little walk around Manchester city centre and then after lunch we went off to find the Lowry. Now with Leanne only just moving there we wasn't sure where to go so we got off at Trafford Bar, I saw signs for the Lowry when I was at Old Trafford a few days ago, which was a bit of a mistake because that tram stop is a long way from the gallery. We did find some impressive old industrial buildings and I especially liked the sculpture of a chain near Old Trafford swing bridge. For those wnating to visit the Lowry the correct tramstop is Media ... read more

Hi All, Last Monday I went to Lincoln to do a little bit of shopping to find the things that we cannot find in China. We didn't make it up to the top of Steep Hill to the cathedral which was a bit of a pity because it is so pretty around Bailgate. Next time. Enjoy the photos. Jah Bless... read more

Hi All, A lovely crisp cold winters morning this morning with frost on the ground, although it didn't last long once the sun came up, so I went around the town to take some photos. As you can see there are not many people around on a Sunday morning. It's funny but I've never considered my hometown as being pretty but after being away for so long and going around and taking photos I now appreciated how old some of the buildings are here. It's been great to catch up with my oldest and best friends while I've been back and a big thank you to you all. Enjoy the photos. Jah Bless... read more

Hi All, I arrived in Manchester and guess what it was raining. I know what a surprise! This is my first visit here. I came to visit my daughter but whilst I was here I thought I had to go to Old Trafford to see the United museum, even though I'm not a United fan. As soon as I'd checked into the hostel we headed off to Old Trafford but by the time we got there the museum had closed, well the lady on the till told me that the computer was turned off, computer says 'No', so Keeley and I went to find an Ethiopian restaurant. Didn't get much sleep unfortunately, thanks to a drunken roommate, so I got up early and went to Old trafford again to finally see the museum. Lots of memorabilia ... read more

Hi All, A really big thank you to Ms. Pauline Swaby-Wallace of the BEMSCA who allowed me to visit today. This was my main reason for visiting Bath. Fairfield House is the former residence of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia. He lived here while in exile. A really emotional visit for me today, I was shaking literally, to be able to see where H.I.M. lived. It was very moving to be able to walk around H.I.M.'s house and even to go into H.I.M.'s bedroom. A really special moment which I'm finding very difficult to put into words. Enjoy the photos. Jah Bless... read more
