Father and I
Jessie's father. Important man WARNING: The video above is extremely loud. Take some precautions to account for this before you watch it with speakers or headphones at full blast!
Sup! So it's that time of the year again! The time when all Chinese desert their shops and businesses and head for their hometowns leaving cities abandoned with no shops or restaurants open. It's a wonderful time and if you're a loser like me who can't cook, you start to rely on the stray dogs running around the city. My life has turned into a crazy zombie like movie with me running amok with a psychotic look in my eyes chasing random animals around an empty foggy city hoping to obtain some sustenance. Then I found a noodle shop that was open and I was saved.
Unfortunately somehow I got sick. I think I have giardia or something as I seem to have all the symptoms. But i'm too stupid to go to the hospital. So I was really sick for awhile. It started when I ate something at KFC, that night and the next morning I puked 3 times and spent a lot of time destroying my bathroom. But at the time
Their home
Me and Jessie looking at the fireworks I just figured it was food poisoning or something so I wasn't so worried, I just wanted to rest. My friend who is a nurse came over and gave me some medicine and junk and after a few days I felt better.
So after planning a few trips and junk that all fell through I finally found something to do. Initially, my friend invited me to go to Fenghuang with her for a few days which would have been awesome. Fenghuang is really beautiful and I haven't been there before so I wanted to go and I was looking forward to it. Then she called me and said that she was busy and couldn't go anymore...............likely excuse. Then I was gonna go to Guangzhou/Shenzhen to visit some friends and stuff but my school needed me to go to Changsha and we had to go to the police station and all this crap. There was just little things that I had to do that prevented me from leaving which was gay. Finally one of my friends, Jessie, said that she was worried about me being alone all the time and that I was so bored, so she invited me to
Jessie and I
Chinese poses! her home to spend the holidays with her and her family. Cool I thought, I can see how a Chinese family celebrates the New Year. Plus I get to go to Huaihua which I kinda wanted to go there for some reason. I don't know why, there's really nothing there.
Huaihua is substantially cleaner than Shaoyang. It was a nice quiet city, a good place to live I think. I got to Jessie's home and she lives on the 10th floor of a nice apartment complex. Her home is really nice. 4 bedrooms and it's a good size. Very comfortable, very clean, very modern. The only problem was they don't use air conditioning because it makes Jessie and her mother sick. So it was freaking freezing the whole time. I had to wear my jacket all the time. It was cool though, they have like this heated bed thing in front of the couch to put your legs under a blanket into it and it makes you really warm. It's really cool, I wanna get one.........of course winter is basically over now though. Her father can cook pretty well and of course he made me eat so much food
Father again
I called him Mr. President which sucked because since I was sick earlier I still couldn't eat very much food. But we'd wake up at like 10am, have breakfast at 10:30, then at 12 we'd have lunch. Oh my god. By that time I was so stuffed then at like 6pm we'd have dinner. So much food. Her father also loves to drink, but luckily he was happy to give me wine rather than making me drink rice wine all night. Didn't feel like drinking since I was sick anyway so I didn't drink a whole lot. The food was great though and it was never ending. And of course at around midnight her mother would be like "Ok who's hungry!? I'm going to make dumplings!" oh my goooooood. It was awesome though.
I didn't really do a lot in Huaihua, we just stayed with her family and hung out. Went to her Aunts house for dinner one night. Her sister is gorgeous. 23, 2 months older than me, she speaks good English. Better than Jessie. She is a pole-dancing teacher in Changsha at the best pole-dancing club in the city (it's a big city) and now she's the boss of the club. Awesome!
Aww
Shhhh! Not like stripping pole-dancing, but just for fitness and junk. She showed me a lot of videos of her friends and students who have gotten on tv shows and in some movies dancing. So i'm in love. But she has a boyfriend which sucks. So there's nothing left to do but kill him. Actually that's going to get me in trouble if this kid disappears. Whatever. She was really sweet to me. Always taking care of me and stuff. She'd be a good housewife. I don't know why that's a compliment......
Anyway Chinese New Years rolled around and it was just like last year. Total chaos of fireworks going off for 30minutes. Sounded like a war was going on. We were on the 10th floor so we had a awesome view of the fireworks and I got a nice video of it which is up top. It really was as loud as it sounds in the video. You can't hear anything and the whole city fills up with smoke like it's on fire. It's such a cool thing to experience, it's unlike anything we have in the States.
After the New Years I began to feel sick again.
Flowers
Why do people think i'm gay? Probably because of photos like this My stomach felt horrible and one night I woke up every 2 hours to destroy my hosts bathroom. After that I decided that I should go back to Shaoyang. I was having fun, and they wanted me to stay another 2-3 days, but I was feeling so bad I didn't want to be sick there. Chinese are so hospitable that I was sick there they would freak out and do everything to take care of me and I really didn't want to burden anyone with it so I decided to leave. Went to the bus station and took off the next day. I was sad to leave because it was great there. But apparently the next day Jessie got sick......so I felt bad because it was probably my fault >.<
So back here i've just been hanging out. My friend from Guangzhou is going to come here and visit me tomorrow so i'll have something to do then and after that more students will begin to come back. I was offered a side job at a training center that only wants Americans. Luckily i'm the only American in the city. Anyway they want me to just work on Sat/Sun
Eating dog
I'm just practicing Chinese traditions of eating dogs. and apparently i'll get 900rmb for those two days, but i'll have 6 classes a day or something they said. I don't know if I wanna mess with that on my days off, but that's an extra 3600rmb per month which is pretty good for 2 days work. So I dunno, i'm going to wait for my schedule at the university before I decide anything. Apparently my FAO said it was ok, but we'll see. I'd hate to turn down that much extra money when I might not be doing anything anyway.
School will begin on March 1 which i'm looking forward too. I'll finally have a schedule which will be nice after 2 months of holiday and me sitting here doing nothing. I'm still happier to get out of Guizhou early and not have to worry about that crap. It's not such a terrible place it just sucks there. Ok homies take it easy!
