Hey everyone. It's been awhile so I figured i'd do some updating. Although nothing terribly exciting has happened, i'm hoping that someone out there is interested in what i've been up to. Well, in short i've been very busy. I just went back and looked and saw that I haven't updated anything since Chinese New Years, which means I missed the beginning of school. Whoops. So my school came up to me and told me that I'd be teaching freshmen. This kind of shocked me because Mike (The other FT here) previously taught the freshmen and it seemed weird that they'd change and give me the freshmen when they knew him already. So I talked to Mike and we decided to switch. Shirley, my lovely FAO, told us that there's another couple on the way and ... read more

WARNING: The video above is extremely loud. Take some precautions to account for this before you watch it with speakers or headphones at full blast! Sup! So it's that time of the year again! The time when all Chinese desert their shops and businesses and head for their hometowns leaving cities abandoned with no shops or restaurants open. It's a wonderful time and if you're a loser like me who can't cook, you start to rely on the stray dogs running around the city. My life has turned into a crazy zombie like movie with me running amok with a psychotic look in my eyes chasing random animals around an empty foggy city hoping to obtain some sustenance. Then I found a noodle shop that was open and I was saved. Unfortunately somehow I got sick. ... read more

Sup everyone. It's been awhile but i've been busy. As most of you know I got my job teaching at Shaoyang University. I'm pretty excited as I can be back in the city I really enjoy where most of my friends are as well as start teaching university. Not bad for a 23 year old I think. Granted it's China and it's not that hard but American employers don't know that ;). I'm happy because I actually have authority and more responsibility. Teaching high schoolers, if they are bad there's really nothing I can do about it. Going to the head master only gets me responses like "You don't need to worry about this, just try your best." thanks. So it doesn't matter that no ones listening to me in class and you're paying me a ... read more

G'day. I'm sitting here drinking hot chocolate. I haven't drank this stuff since I lived in Iowa, it's awesome. Thanks to the last foreign teacher for leaving here for me. It's probably so old and expired that it's just making hallucinate which makes it seem much better than it actually is. Anyway, so i've been a little busy....oh dude.....Hues Corporation - Rock the Boat just came on. So a few weeks ago I had some kind of long holiday or something. I can't really remember the occasion, anyway, I took the opportunity to go to Chongqing with Shana and another friend Elaine so we could see the city. Frankly, I wasn't too wild on the idea of going there because I know there is absolutely nothing there tourist wise. But whatever. So we left at like ... read more

Howdy, So yeah, i'm still here. There just hasn't been a lot to talk about. Still in Tongzi, Guizhou. To be honest.....it kinda sucks here. There really isn't anything to do. There's one park that no one really goes to, and aside from there all there is to do is wander around the city like a hobo. The city is extremely small so I can pretty much walk through everything in an hour or so and it's pretty boring. No one here really speaks English outside of English teachers and students, so there's no one to talk to, no one to meet. Sure I talk to and make friends with the teachers, but they are so busy with classes and their families they don't have time to hang out with me or anything exciting. Same with ... read more

Hey. So after I bought my plane ticket to Chongqing and I prepared to leave. Unfortunately I had to leave at like 7am. Why do I always have to leave so early? But I was very upset namely because I came back to China with the understanding that I was going to Hunan and now here I am flying to Chongqing and I have way too much crap that is overweight. So after investigation (More talking to the employee's that have no idea about the answers to my questions when they are very typical questions and it's their job to know the answers) I discovered the plane only allowed to check 1 bag at a max of 20kg. Crap. My bag upon coming here was almost 23kg. So somehow I had to lose 3kg in one ... read more

Hi. So yeah, my laptop basically didn't have internet access the entire time I was in Yangshuo so I could update about anything I was doing or anything. So needless to say i've forgotten a lot of junk. Oh well. Took the train to Guilin and I had so much freaking garbage it was quite annoying. Luckily some of my friends brought me to the train station and they were allowed to at least help me bring my junk on board. I could have done it by myself, but it would have been annoying. So as I said previously the Changsha airport so kindly broke the wheel on my suitcase. So I went and bought a new suitcase for real cheap. The suitcase is slightly bigger which makes it easier to fit my stuff in there ... read more

Hey everyone! So here's what happened. I went on New Years holiday and so much junk happened that I just never got around to writing about it all. Yeah, i've been lazy about it leave me alone! So what's been happening? I finished the school year, went back to the USA and decided to come back to China for another year. whee! So we will basically pick up like I was never gone and just start writing about junk. Aight so this time I came to China was probably one of the worst and most exhausting experiences i've ever had and it all started with some stupid bimbo in Orlando saying "Your bags are checked all the way to your final destination." Sweet I thought, now I don't have to worry about lugging all my crap ... read more

Wow. So what a holiday i've had. I've spent New Years in Hawaii, with friends, without friends (mostly without friends KUKU! :( ) But this year was bar none the best holidays i've ever had. Amazing new friends, amazing new girlfriend (yeah yeah i'm sure you all heard from someone by now.) and an amazing new country. First off let me explain something. Christmas is NOT a holiday that is recognized by the Chinese government. More and more people are celebrating it every year, but it is not a national holiday. That being said.....students still had school. But I didn't. Why? Because i'm white. Yeah there are racists even in China, so I was banned from school on this day. So I had only one day off which was cool because since everyone else still had ... read more

Haven't been doing much since we came home from HK. Chillin' mostly and being shocked at Christmas being 10 days away. Students keep asking what i'm doing for Christmas and i'm sure none of you care. But for the sake of writing something let me tell you what i'm doing. Nothing. I only have 1 day holiday (Christmas Day) and that isn't enough time to umm......do anything at all.... the Headmaster told the FAO's to treat us as part of their families, so he's paying for a huge meal for us. The FAO's have also expressed interest in throwing a party w/ all the students. I have no idea how that could ever pan out, but I wish them luck. Still no word on when Spring Festival starts for us. The FAO's have speculated sometime around ... read more
