We’ve just spent the last half hour devouring a bag of roasted chestnuts which we got from a shop on the junction of Tiyuchang and north Jingua road. We didn’t actually know what we were buying to start with, we just saw this queue outside the shop so we thought we might as well join it. We’ve bought them before in National Week when we were killing time in Jinhua before our train to Guilin. However, the ones we’ve just bought are a little more difficult to eat - they’re not split open like the ones in Jinhua, so we had to crack them open with our teeth and sit like hamsters nibbling out the insides.
Messy but tasty and not that expensive - we got a reasonable sized bag for 10rmb (£1).
