alrighty, its been a stressful couple of days. everything is reaaaally different to germany and everything i am used to. after the night in the hotel i had to face a new level of stress!:D seems like there is no organisation at all at this uni. noone knew what to do, where and when or whom to ask. it was so hot and humid and i came here with long trousers and a jumper plus all my luggage. no water and i was really tired. anyway, i had to go through registration and to ckeck into my room. after a couple of hours (chinese people dont really work fast...) i was done...but apparently i missed my course selection. so since yesterday i am trying to do that (even with the help of two very nive chinese students!) but i seems impossible. its completely in chinese and one semester of studys doesnt help here. the teachers and staff dont speak english and even the two guys had lots of trouble with it. they kept calling officers and want to meet some tonight cause you cant see on the internet if the course is in english (as we were told before we came here) or in chinese (which my two sociology courses seem to be) and where and when they are supposed to be. i know: there should be... but there just isnt! its really annoying actually, i mean its not like we are the first foreign students at this university. anyway, we hope to sort it out tomorrow, cause courses start on monday. yeah... :D apart from that china is both: pretty cool and pretty hard! the landscape is just awesome and beautiful. students are great and friendly. i have got a tiny but nice single room with ensuite and aircon (which you really need here!) i kind of got used to the traffic which seemed to be impossible at first. :D everyone is just driving the way they want. there are no visible rules and crossing the street when its green simply means its slightly less dangerous than crossing the street when the traffic lights are red... what i didnt get used to so far is definately the food!!! it has absolutely nothing to do with german or european chinese restaurants and i hate those sticks!!:P the food is either too hot or only meat or -what i especially like- meat that i wouldnt even imagine in germany. like the other day when there were parts of frogs swimming around in our food. yummi... today we went to a more expensive restaurant for the first time and there was nothing on the card i liked. so i ordered something vegetarian that turned out to be some cold mushroom stuff. too bad i dont like mushrooms. the others really like to try new stuff and probably arent as picky as i am and dont care if they get duck feet or a whole fish on their plate. i am sorry, but i just cant eat that. i like veggies, chicken and milk products but there is only very few of them here. so i reckon i am gonna stick with korean food which i really do like. in the worst case scenario there is always mcdonalds left and guess what: they have delivery service here!:D but enough about food. today it just kind of put me over the edge and made me hit rock bottom. my friends were a bit worried about me but i am sure i will be better tomorrow!😊 i just sort of regretted that i didnt go salt lake city, utah for a while. but that selfpity doenst help me now. so i am just going to spend and evening on my own and hope that tomorrow i get my cours stuff done. also i have a language test on tuesday to decide which class i will take. beginners i assume!:D its really annoying not to be able to understand or say anything really and to be shut out of every communication... i really need to learn chinese! then next time i will be able to understand young chinese people asking me to take a picture with me!!!:D no kidding! cause i am "blonde"! really nice to be stared at everytime you leave international college. people literally stop walking to stare after me! another thing i have to get used to!^^ okay, so much for now. hope you guys are doing fine and everything works out for you these days!😉 i know what i am talking about! would love to hear from you. except my facebook isnt working...yet. really hope i can sort that out soon, too!😊 xo
