Finally , Hopefully I will be successful in adding an entry from abroad! We have been in China now just a week and it seems like a month , we have done so much. We have travelled from Beijing to Xian and boarded the Victoria Rose our mini criuse ship for our jaunt down the Yangtze to the greatest tallest biggest Dam in the world!!. China has turned out to be amazing , the people are friendly and welcoming, nothing seems to be too much trouble apart from the toot toot driver who wanted to charge us the equivalent of 50 pounds for a 5 minute ride ! The country has changed from a third world country to one where its cities are prosperous with towering shimmering skyscrapers, Beijing has 18 million people and 6 ring roads but the traffic is nose to tail . WE have come at a good time when the country is celebrating 60 years of the new state, They had 8 days off work and were celebrating everyday. We have done all the touristy things Tienanmen square, the Forbidden city, The summer palace, the great wall and the Terracotta Army. the pictures give a sample of
what we saw. The Great wall takes a lot of beating , I managed to walk about 45 minutes not very long but exhausting , the steps are huge and my walking pole certainly took the strain!
