From Sihanoukville I had booked a transfer to Tatai, in Koh Kong province near the border with Thailand. Around four hours after leaving the overcrowded beach resort, I was happily ensconced on a peaceful river boat for the 20 minute journey up the river to my next destination. It turns out I was mistaken when I said in my last post that a five-star life wasn't for me. Being holed up in a five-sta... Read Full Entry

New lodge up the river a bit

Heaven on stilts!
What perfection, and what a contrast to your last resort! Your room was gorgeous, though as you said, anything that's peaceful and beyond the internet is perfect! The fireflies sounded magical--what a great place!

Heaven!
It truly was quite a magical place.....I loved it! I am glad that this was my last spot - great memories to bring home.

What a delightful place to stay with a book or two. A pity about the snakes in the river - I hope that they never make their way into the apartments.

Snakes
I didn't ask too many questions but assumed that the water snakes didn't make contact with land!

Living room inside the tent

You call that a tent?
Oh well...nothing like a bit of camping out to end a holiday. Looks like tenting suits you. Nice digs!

Tents
Yep, I've never been in one quite like this before. Doubtful I will again to be honest. But this kind of camping I could definitely get used to!

Glamping
What a great place! The tents look way more fancy than most of the hotels I have ever stayed at! ;-) gotta love the shower as well! Really magical hideaway...

Glamping
The shower was really cool. The only thing to remember as I discovered, was that despite feeling like I was in the middle of nowhere, there was a bit of river traffic so I had to remember to pull the curtains! It was fantastic, I loved it there.

What a treasure of a place!
I think I could lose myself in many books...and cocktails...at a place like this. What a lovely way to end your Cambodian trip. By the way, I'm fairly sure that most (if not all) water snakes are amphibious :)

Amphibians?!
Well I am glad I didn't know that beforehand!
